“Coming back from a hike at Powell Butte, a friend and I stopped by here to enjoy a lunch. The breakfast sandwich (~$6) and the croissant sandwich (~$8) I got were both refreshing and filling, and I got to sample some of another sandwich (~$14) which definitely I would have to take half home if I had it for myself. The ambiance was very relaxing and I could see myself doing an artistic venture here. I also had a latte which did the job for me. The highlight was the cannoli which I've never had before. But the ricotta cheese and the pastry puff complemented eachother perfectly and the choice of almonds, chocolate chips, and pistachios at the ends of the cannoli made a fun pizzaz. would love to come back more frequently if I lived closer!“

“This place offers wide variety of desserts indeed. The tiramisu cape cake and Thai tea cake are fabulous. These are good sweet (not too sweet like others) and very soft. I also see that they offer Japanese fluffy pancakes too!! I will try that next time.“

“I have been searching in America for the best almond croissant. East, Central, South, and East Coast. Every time there is some stupid TikTok craze that completely ruins the business, you have tourists, influencers, and even annoying wannabes—just taking pictures and being sucked into the continuous wave of social media pollution. This does not mean the bakery is good or even the baker is good at what they do.

I'm happy to announce that if you want to experience a French-style croissant, which I'm reviewing. You have found it. This place correctly double bakes the croissant and has the even butter flow as squish the dough. Thank you! You have mastered it, and this was the next level. Great job, and keep your focus on profits. People will always come back. I will be spending many $8 croissants in the near future.“

“I’ve been here twice! The coffee is decent (the mocha tastes a lil funky to me) and the baked goods are absolutely amazing.

I do have celiac disease and unfortunately I think I may have been glutened here! I’ve had the same pastry twice and once was totally fine, but the second (today) was the only food I’d had since the day prior. I unfortunately am writing this review parked on the porcelain throne, with one of the worst gluten reactions I’ve had since I got diagnosed.

Obviously I can’t say for 100% sure (and given it’s a dedicated space it really does seem super unlikely!) but the timing matched my usual gluten exposure consequences perfectly ):“

“Lots of good things to say about this great place, but I'll focus on one. Quiche. Most places that serve quiche are essentially serving frittatas with a crust. Quiche is meant to have a custard texture with the ingredients layered on top of the egg, not blended throughout -- and all within a buttery pie crust. A good quiche is heaven, and so hard to find. Mehri's Cafe and Bakery does quiche right, and that's a rare treat.“

“Best bakery chain around the NW. Their Blue Ribbon (roast beef on potato bread) was the best sandwich I've had in the Pacific Northwest. Quite a few bakery items including a variety bread/rolls (no pumpernickel, though). Customer service was friendly and they brew local coffee, Nossa Familia (good - check them out, too on Division!). This is now a go-to spot for sandwiches among other things ??“

“My go to bakery for any cravings I have. They continue to beat neighboring restaurants in quality and affordability. I’ve been coming here for 2 years for custom cakes and weekend pastries. One of the best bakeries in portland and reminds me of what i grew up with in SF.“

“Hopefully the owner of this shop is so proud of the community establishment she has created! I have been temporarily living a block away for work the last few months and this place has saved me. I missed the anniversary party and any other events she may have had, but it’s been a delight having such a gem near by. Even if I move a little further from the city, this unassuming place is worth the trek! The creativity, attention to detail, and care can almost be tasted in the air…. although i recommend actually tasting one of her pastries! Hehe. Quiche also must be “grandmas secret recipe” type deal. 10/10 .. or 5/5 whatever it is, check this spot out!!!

“My favourite restaurant in Portland. I tried the Pork Katsu Sando and it was really good with the curry dip! Highly recommend.

I can tell you the Blueberry Crumble is amazing and my co-workers loved the Raspberry Pistachio, the Maple Bacon, the original and the Key Lime Coconut. “We ordered a cake and desserts from Sugar Blooms Bakery for our wedding, and it was absolutely delicious! Minh baked us a beautiful and delicious 2-tiered wedding cake with vanilla sponge and passionfruit curd filling. Our guests loved the cake and kept commenting to us how airy the sponge was and how delicious it was with the passionfruit curd filling! As someone who doesn’t enjoy overly sweet and heavy cakes, this cake was perfect for our Asian palette, and multiple guests even drew comparisons of this cake to airy Japanese cakes (also, the texture of her buttercream was so light and whipped—I have never tasted such light buttercream!)! The desserts that we ordered (mango pudding and brownie cookies) were also a big hit—we especially highly recommend the mango pudding!

Minh is such a talented baker, and was such a sweet person to work with, we loved all her creations so much, and we can’t wait to buy more desserts from her in the future! ?“
