“What a gem of a coffee shop!! We are so glad we tucked in for a cup of coffee. The coffee is delicious and the latte art is so cute. The desserts were the perfect sweet treat for a rainy Saturday afternoon. The shop carries so many darling items, many are perfect for cat lovers. We will definitely be back!!“

“I'm so happy I found this place the best matcha I've had, literally drive two hours for this, must go when in PDX. Friendly and fast service. It's matcha galore so everything is delicious the matcha latte with strawberry foam, the cheese foam is a must have at first I thought it would be weird but the combination salty sweet in your mouth is like mind blowing, floats are so creamy. I had to try the bear one it the best of all worlds iced latte/ice cream/bear is made of compact shaved ice plus foam ! Mmmmm heaven!“

“This has become our new fav date spot. We do coffee weekly and have come here numerous times. It's vegan and their flavor combos are so beautiful. Strawberry whine cold brew.
Dietary restrictions: This is a vegan restaurant. You don't have to ask for alternative milk! The sandwiches, coffee, all of it. There's a vegan grocery store located on the other side so you can get all your shopping done at the same time!“

“This may be my new favorite place to get breakfast in Portland. Highlights for me are the pandan waffles, the ube French toast. I loved the iced latte flight. They don't have it available all the time so if you see it available, you better get it. The portion size is perfect. I love getting their pandan latte (hot) with coconut milk.“
“Wife and i checked out the brick and mortar today (usually buy beans online). What a great place- i love everything about it. Great beans, GREAT customer service, great decor, drinks. Everything.
Like they ask you what size free coffee you want with your bag of beans? Who does that? Baristas so friendly and kind. This place knows what's up with coffee. It's a way of life.
Honestly, if someone says they don't like this place, they're not trustworthy and they don't know about coffee.“

“I recently visited a different Nossa Familia Coffee location, and it exceeded my expectations. The cozy atmosphere and friendly baristas create the perfect environment for either a quick coffee stop or a relaxing afternoon. Their espresso drinks are always perfectly balanced—rich and smooth without any bitterness. One of my favorite things about this place is their focus on sustainability and community involvement, which makes every visit feel purposeful. While I typically enjoy their offerings in-store, I’ve also started using their subscription service, which is fantastic for enjoying their freshly roasted beans at home. It’s a great way to keep a steady supply of high-quality coffee, delivered right to your door. Whether you’re a regular or a first-timer, Nossa Familia offers a consistently great experience!“
“The house coffee soda is popping!?☕️?
Kid-friendliness: Not many kid-friendly options, and if a kiddo can manage a mature environment there should be no problems.
Wheelchair accessibility: Yes, I think, maybe rugged wheels needed, not sure“

“Soen/Courier Coffee is a small Japanese café. It's one café and one counter for ordering, so there is no functional distinction between Soen and Courier Coffee, I think the coffee menu and small baked goods selection is from Courier Coffee and the rest (norimaki, kakigori, and tea) is Soen. Kakigori is available seasonally - I was lucky that I visited during the last week of kakigori for the year.
It's a pretty small space, a few tables tables inside and a few outside on the sidewalk. There's not much room for standing, but the staff will bring your food to your table so you don't have to stand around waiting after you order. The staff members were very nice!
I got there 45 minutes before closing. They were out of most of the norimaki but had one ume-taku norimaki left, so that was what I ordered, along with an apple cinnamon kakigori and buckwheat tea. I really enjoyed the norimaki even though it wasn't my first choice. The pickled plum and radish gave it a big pop of flavour and the inari added some nice sweetness. Perfect interplay of sweet, savoury, and vegetal flavours. The kakigori looked huge but since kakigori is mostly ice it wasn't heavy or hard to finish. The apple cinnamon flavour came with a creamy sweet potato sauce, a shot of hojicha, and of course baked apples. It was a really interesting and unique combination of flavours. Very good. The tea was a nice warming accompaniment to my meal. I think for the high quality the prices were fair.“

“We had our rehearsal dinner in Cafe Olli's event space. From the cocktail hour through the dinner and dessert, our evening was delightful. Cafe Olli went above and beyond, including mocktails for the non-drinkers, creating an onion-less menu for our guest with an onion allergy, and preparing a pizza for the children that attended. Each dish seemed even better than the last, all delicious and surprising. Many of my guests were trying to bribe the servers for recipes. The portions were also generous; the guests went home with leftovers. Our leftovers were just as tasty the following day. The space itself is simple and lovely; it is well-lit, which is important to my partner. The children at our event also peeped into the garden, which was very exciting for them.“

“Great little European grocery store. Someone mentioned Russian/Ukrainian food in a comment, but that's not all there is! There is food from many other European countries. Prices are similar to other grocery stores with similar products. Try the sweets! Extremely good! Very sweet.“

“Nuvrei in Portland's Pearl District is a must-visit for pastry lovers! Their chocolate croissant is perfection-flaky, buttery layers with just the right amount of rich, dark chocolate inside. Every bite feels indulgent, yet light. The bakery has a cozy, welcoming vibe, making it the perfect spot for a morning treat or a coffee break. Their attention to detail and quality ingredients truly shine through in every pastry. Highly recommend for anyone with a love tor fresh, delicious baked goods!“

“My favorite bagel spot in Portland, everything is delicious and the service is always super friendly. The only downside is there's no prepayment option - you can only call in to order, but then you still have to wait in the line to pay, even if your food's already ready. Worth the wait though, and the bagel sandwiches are my favorite of anywhere in the neighborhood and all of PDX!“

“Rimsky was, and still is, one of the unholy assortment of places that night owls (like I used to be) flocked to, after stumbling out of a metal concert late at night, seeking a place to nurse our wounds and something to sponge up the booze. We lost Le Bistro Montage during COVID (even if they rose from the ashes in the form of food carts), and Roxy shortly thereafter. Thankfully the Hot Cake House is still chugging along. And then there's Rimsky: the devilish dessert destination that dares and delights date and diners alike!
They like to play up the haunted vibe here, and I've heard this place self-described as "casually threatening", which is probably one of my favorite descriptions of any place, ever, and they live up to this moniker. The aesthetic is eclectic and a little off-putting, and the irreverent servers toy with their guests like a cat batting around a ball of yarn, always approaching the edge but always coming short of pushing you over it.
And then there's the coffee and desserts: not exactly two of my favorite things, but when done correctly, they can be wonderful, especially when paired together. I've thoroughly enjoyed an affogato and a chocolate pot de crème here, as well as some fantastic espresso...and this is coming from someone who can eat one slice of birthday cake and be done with sugar for the next six months, and whose "regular" coffee order is a spearmint or Earl Grey tea.
Rimsky-Korsakoffee is a fantastic spot to end on a first date: it'll give you a good idea of your partner's flexibility and sense of humor...if you can get in the door, that is - they are ALWAYS busy, so plan ahead and be patient, if necessary. And I know the "is it haunted?" question gets asked a lot, but it really doesn't matter, because once you visit here even once, the specter of its recollection will be bedeviling you for years to come.
Kid-friendliness: Yes...? But don't. The vibe isn't really condusive to small children.“

“Vegetarian here - my favorite spot in Portland! Super charming atmosphere and so much art inside! Cozy, chill, and the yummiest food. I dream of the salted honey pie and buttered toast the size and shape of a mattress. Whenever I visit PDX this place is top of my list. Right next door is Mississippi Records which makes this one of the coolest corners in the city in my opinion :)
Beware: often a wait but worth it!“

“The drink I got was AMAZING. It was the taro milk tea with cheesefoam, SO creamy and thick. It reminded me of the richness of eggnog. The cheesefoam was a bit more salty than cheesefoam from other shops, but still very good.
The place was a bit messy, particularly the windows and door were covered in greasy kid handprints. But, they were super busy when I was there on a Sunday at 1pm, so probs just not the priority at the time.
Even though they were really busy (all the indoor seating was full + half the outdoor seating) the drinks were out pretty quick. I don't think we waited more than like 6/7 minutes.“

“I’m a snobby coffee lover. Often i find myself disappointed; either disappointed with no in-house flavors, low quality beans, or lack of true barista passion. THIS is a coffee shop with PASSION for coffee. In house Pumpkin Spice that isn’t too sweet or over powering the espresso. It was blended to perfection, the barista was bubbly, sweet as pie, and clearly loved being a barista! 100/10 latte (seriously)! Can’t wait to come back soon, really wish we had coffee like THIS in Eugene OR! Thank you to the barista for the wonderful conversation and even more delicious latte! You deserve all the kindness and love in life!“

“Spencer and his crew are always fantastic! The food and service are both outstanding! And Spencer does such a great job of supporting local farms, etc. to support our communities to add the freshest ingredients to his regular menu and daily specials. I appreciate everything Cafe Rowan tries to do!
In response to a review of Cafe Rowan by “Susan me” from 2 months ago: Your review of the service is completely ridiculous and wrong. This is Portland. We help each other out. We have several “please bus your own dishes” restaurants that are fantastic! A little help from patrons to support local restaurants by bussing your own dishes into a provided bin goes a long way. It helps keep staffing costs lower; not to mention it takes only a few moments of your time, and it provides a little exercise which is a good thing after indulging in all the delicious food you just consumed.
Cheers to Cafe Rowan!“

“The best bagel you can get in PDX. Don’t get me wrong- their coffee sucks, but the incredibly eclectic decor and local regulars can’t be beat. Personal obsessions are their cheddar bagels, the Gina Marie’s cream cheese, and tomatoes that are somehow always in-season. You won’t be disappointed.“
