I've recently just moved to the Portland area and I come in on a regular basis. Eveytime I come in everyone is very friendly. Its a cozy atmosphere and I enjoy getting my morning coffee here 🥰
Very cute shop, delicious coffee, friendly staff, vegan options. :)
So ive been trying to find a place for years that can make a good orange cardamom mocha 😋 and this is the place.

Carnelian Coffee is a cozy and welcoming spot with a warm, relaxed atmosphere. The shop features a charming rock-themed decor, with beautiful rocks on display on the walls and labels indicating their origins. The space is wheelchair accessible and offers a calm, soothing environment perfect for work or leisure, whether inside or outside on a sunny day. The friendly staff create a friendly vibe, making visitors feel comfortable. The coffee is consistently excellent, with some of the best decaf in Portland, and a cortado that is highly recommended. They serve a variety of pastries from Tabor Bread and Shoofly, as well as sandwiches and bagels with shmear. Their housemade and organic syrups provide a smooth, balanced cup, featuring Ethiopian and Costa Rica beans—some of the top beans in Portland. The iced cold brew can be tart, but a little cream helps, and the vegan caprese biscuit is very good. The shop offers non-dairy milk options and many vegan choices on the menu. The drip coffee and pour overs, though not artisan-style, are excellent. The space includes a cool, industrial-style bathroom that adds to the overall vibe. Some find it a bit expensive, but the quality makes it worth it, and bringing your own mug earns a discount. Overall, Carnelian Coffee is a hidden gem with great workspaces, good music, and a relaxing atmosphere perfect for coffee lovers.
