“I wanted this to be 5-star so bad. The food was outstanding, service was ok. We got brunch instead of the full tea service. Upon ordering, we were told that in the afternoon, breakfast items on the ‘brunch’ menu are not available. It also took an hour+ and when served, we were told brunch was second priority. If it’s not a true brunch nor priority, why offer it? These are both items I would have appreciated knowing before making an expensive brunch reservation.“

“I love this place! Me and my family have been going here for the last few years and it’s definitely our go-to coffee spot! The owner is amazing and is always fast to serve. The host of regulars that come in are fun characters as well.

The food is so good, don’t forget to get the strong bread, the house jam, and the house hot sauce - they make all of them and they are delicious! Various amazing breakfast choices; I prefer Classic Eggs Benedict or Waffles with Pecans topped with incredibly delicious Ginger Butter. Friendly, prompt and personable service by staff and owner. “Wow! We have been fans of Dean's Homestyle Cafe for many years. When the new owner's took it over this year, we were concerned about whether the comfortable, flavorful, "homestyle" experience we were used to would remain. The new team has done great! The staff is super friendly and working hard to make people feel welcome, learning names of regulars, and carrying on a place with a great reputation. The food is still excellent with super generous, well prepared portions and very reasonable prices. Well done!“

“Great place. One of my favorites in the neighborhood. I love how bright the coffee shop is and the open layout in general. The coffee is better than the two closest cafes too me, but it doesn't quite make my Portland top ten. It's definitely a runner up though.“

“Very good food! This time I had the potato gratin with greens and added the smoked trout. The trout is not always on the menu but I get it whenever it is. It's tender, fresh, flavorful and not saturated in oil or overly salty. Got a honey cake to go!“
