$11 for white rice with four pieces of BBQ pork. Their version of fried rice. 😭 This place was delicious at one time. That time is no longer.

Everything you would want from a chinese restaurant. Great food, Huge portions, and lots of options. The friendliest staff imaginable. Great wood furniture and lots of seating but some how still cozy feeling. Only place in Salem I go for chinese.

The portions were decent but the food wasn’t very flavorful. I only received 2 soy sauce packets with my delivery order and had multiple servings of rice. Feels like they’ve scaled back to cut costs but for what they charge it didn’t feel worth the money.

the food is tasty the service leaves alot to be desired. when I arrived a business was picking up a large order. the employee told me to have a seat, then it took her 20 minutes to bring me a menu. then she starts to sweep and another girl comes out from the kitchen. I wait another 15-20 minutes before she takes my order. I'm by myself and there's no o e in the restaurant. it takes 10ish minutes to bring my egg flower soup she didn't ask or bring soy sauce. it took another 10 minutes to bring my beef and broccoli. but wait, where's the spicy wonton. I thought she didn't hear me so I was fine but nope. she brought them out. lunch alone took over an hour. do with this review what you will.

We crave Chen’s every trip to Salem! The food is FRESH! Sits so well on my stomach! The service is very friendly, very efficient, and it’s always an exceptional experience! Can’t rave enough. I’m very sensitive to preservatives and my stomach stays happy.

I hope you are here and still open every trip!

I first discovered this restaurant back when it had a 4.6-star rating, and I was impressed. One of the things I really liked was the portion sizes. For the first time, I ordered beef and broccoli and actually got beef, not just a mountain of broccoli. The rice even reminded me a little of the fried rice you’d find in New Jersey/New York—and after living on the East Coast for 20 years, that flavor brought back memories I truly missed.

Unfortunately, things have gone downhill since then. The quality has dropped noticeably, and even the overall rating has gone down. The service is terrible—staff don’t greet you, don’t smile, and make you feel like they’d rather be anywhere else.

And the food? Honestly, it’s awful now. Prices are high, but instead of generous portions of meat, they now serve huge piles of broccoli with just a few strips of beef. It feels like a complete waste of money and quality.

If you’re new around here, I’d honestly recommend skipping this place. Don’t waste your time or your money. Sadly, they’ve lost me as a customer.

If you're a lo mein person, be warned... the veggie lo mein comes 100% plain with absolutely no sauce or flavor! My husband ordered the shrimp lo mein and I ordered the veggie as I'm not big on meat. I was so disappointed when I realized that I had paid $12 for plain steamed noodles and veggies. Meanwhile, my husband's shrimp lo mein was slick with sauce and full of flavor.

I actually ordered the shrimp lo mein the next day since I still needed to get my fix, but I feel cheated! I had to pay extra for meat that I didn't even want, just to get sauce on my noodles. There was nothing in the description of the veggie lo mein to indicate that it would be totally plain. Please fix that!!
