The staff and service staff were great. They took the time to talk with us and describe the menu and their passion for food.

Wow. Just found out this restaurant has closed. What a shame! We were going there last night for dinner and discovered the doors closed. It would be a shame to lose such a good place. Hopefully they can reopen in another location with more exposure and traffic. Salem really needs a good southern food restaurant

Pretty solid food. I've been there twice and had nibbles of what my friends food and it's really good. The way they fry is crispy without being greasy. Their sauces are epic. I had their blueberry Dutch apple cobbler and it was GREAT! The price is right, about 9-11/entree. Only 4 stars because I don't have anything else to compare it to.

Very happy we stopped in here for breakfast. First time here and it won't be the last. Food was and so was the service. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu

Pasta creole was really good, with sausage/chicken/ mushroom and grated parmesan cheese. Would like to see a little more sauce on the pasta, but overall a delicious dish. Fish hushpuppies were nice, and the spread served on the side was a nice surprise...Yum!! All this with a blood orange -based ale really hit the spot.

I gave 3 stars because prior to today's visit and using grub hub the food was pretty good (Pasta Creole especially). When we went in they were out of fried chicken as well as the Pasta Creole, sadly. The sausage po boy and black beans & rice were decent but the fried okra was VERY disappointing. On top of that the soda machine was dispensing mostly seltzer so most of our drinks were bad.

This place is amazing, the gumbo is just wow. Staff is so friendly and nice environment to be in. We will be back.

Fantastic service, flavorful food, and the best gumbo I've had since visiting New Orleans! I also tried the shrimp po'boy and these were large and nicely crusted shrimp on a perfectly crusty and soft roll. For dessert, we tried the marionberry cobbler and begnets. Very nice! Highly recommend!

This is a great cafe with some of the best southern cooking. I had the chicken and waffles and my husband had the catfish and grits. We had pretty big portions, but it was so good we ate it all! They serve a variety of beers, but we opted for the sweet tea. We brought home some freshly made beignets for later. We will be going back soon to try out some of the other dishes.

Cute little cafe I came across when visiting the Oregon State Capital this past weekend. We arrived around 1:15pm, and they were out of chicken to make chicken and waffles. Bummer. Then they were out of gumbo. Second bummer. Then they didn't have the biscuits for my breakfast plate. Well, they went above and beyond and gave us a couple of beignets to replace it. Score! My breakfast was delicious; it was a simple breakfast place with eggs, potatos and bacon. It was eight bucks, a reasonable price. The service was super friendly and accommodating, some of the best I've had in ages. Tons of seating, and a nice variety of hot sauces too. My partner got the fried green tomatoes which were very fresh and hot, and were also very good. Overall it was a good experience; I'd love to come back and try out the chicken and waffles, and the gumbo.

Staff was nice and the food was good. Wait was too long for food to arrive (45 mins) and they forgot we ordered coffee. Felt like a group that came after us got their drinks and food first, which would feel okay if there was communication about our order. I don't blame the waitress, they were understaffed for their lunch rush hour. I would try the place again, but I was only there for a few days.

Will defintiely be coming back for another visit. The foods is delicious--their staff was friendly and very helpful in telling us about menu items. Their Chicken was juicy and crispy and everything you could want from fried chicken. And their hush puppies are must haves... Get 2 orders.

Such a great restaurant. We got in scraping the closing time and it was so worth it. Quite hard to find because it's inside the museum. But, the food is superb. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles, Jambalaya, and Seafood Gumbo. The food was served quickly. Very tasty. Would totally come back and I definitely recommend!
