About Al Aqsa

Al Aqsa is a gem in downtown Salem, offering some of the best Mediterranean food in the area. The prices are reasonable for the generous portions served, with absurdly authentic flavors and great value. The staff are kind, thoughtful, and engaged with customers, creating a warm and family-friendly environment. The gyro and lamb shawarma with rice are standout dishes that shouldn't be missed, along with the fresh baklava. Vegetarian options are available, and they can accommodate gluten and dairy-free diets without compromising on taste. The food is exotic, hand-made, and filling, with big portions perfect for saving leftovers. The food is delicious, super flavorful, and authentic. For vegetarians, there is falafel and hummus. Customers have ordered the chicken shawarma plate, the lamb hummus plate, and the Tabbouleh salad. The food arrived in a timely fashion and was out quickly. The rice is unbeatable, and their dolmas is just so goooood. This authentic Palestinian family-owned restaurant is a must-visit for Mediterranean food lovers in Salem.

Absolutely loved this place! It’s run by the sweetest couple, who make you feel so welcome from the moment you walk in. The food tastes fresh and homemade, the lentil soup was especially incredible, rich, comforting, and full of flavor. The meat was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy, and the rice was cooked just right. Every dish was wonderfully seasoned and bursting with authentic Mediterranean flavors. We’ll definitely be coming back!
It is a very small place, i wasn't sure what to expect but the owners and the food were both absolutely wonderful! I think by far this was the best lamb i've ever had! Both of our dishes were very, very good.
Don't pass by this place, never really noticing it, as I did for decades. You'll miss out on a delicious local restaurant, run by a kind couple. I went there, thinking it was new, and found out it's been open for 16 years.
The chicken schwarma was very good; the lamb kabsa was even better. I won't wait long to return and try other dishes.
