We took my toddler here for breakfast and it did not disappoint! The cook asked my husband when we walked in if he could start working on our toddler’s breakfast and proceeded to make her a bunny shaped pancake. She loved it!
Both my husband’s and my food was flavorful and fresh. The herb biscuit was my favorite. Definitely will be back!

I really enjoy small cafes/diners like these and this one had the same charm. Very friendly server who knew most of the guests by name. I came on a Thursday at 12:30 and there were plenty of open tables.
The food was 4/5. I ordered the breakfast burrito with no sour cream. They made it with sour cream but luckily it was only on the top so they simply removed it which is fine for me. It was not a burrito meant to be eaten with the hands since it’s bathed in a sauce, rather with a fork/knife. My butter knife was far too dull so I asked for a steak knife which should’ve come by default but it’s no big deal.
The food was good and the staff was nice. Would recommend.

NASTY MAN! Arrived early for a 7 a.m. breakfast so I could then get a parking place near the Salem Art Show At 6:50 the owner started beating on my Roadtrek van and yelling "Get outta' here---no camping." I followed him into a dirty back room to explain that I was NOT camping---just waiting for them to open. He had disappeared. So I moved down 17th street to "Word of Mouth," a lovely bistro with full bar and home baked bread. One of the women asked "Is that your van----it's beautiful." Great food, beautiful decor, friendly people and good prices. A sign read "Happiness is not a destination, it's a way of life."
Best breakfast in Salem. You can taste the love that goes into this food. The staff is very friendly and it is a very comfortable welcoming environment.

This place feels like a miracle. Homey/cozy/friendly, family-owned, and the food may have been the best I’ve ever had. An absolutely perfect experience. And so many different, awesome mugs - never know which one you’ll get.
I’m visiting from San Diego, but if I lived here I’d be a weekend regular, no question.

Sadly I forget this is so close to where I've lived for a decade, but I've never been disappointed with their food or service. Definitely a great local food service!
