The other night my elderly parents were verbally abused by the shift manager, Joseph. He was busy socializing with a friend and didn't want to do his job. He and his friend yelled at my parents. They physically intimidated them and used racial slur against them. It's incredibly sad, disgusting, and disturbing that this behavior was tolerated by other store employees.

Two of the guys working in the deli area were extremely rude. I came to get a sandwich and when I told them what I wanted he began aggressively removing the plastic covering the food and glaring at me without saying a word. Another employee came up and asked him what I was getting and so I went to respond because I hadn't said what I wanted yet and he interrupted me and said "I was talking to him." It was a an extremely uncomfortable interaction and I told them to just forget it and left without getting food. I will not be returning.

I was pretty disappointed in the first cake the bakery made me, but when I came the night before to check on it the girl helping me made sure she had all the right details and assured me it would be fixed, the correct cake was already made when I called the next morning. When I picked it up the cake decorator and other worker that assisted me were very kind and helpful!

Ordered from "Pick Up and Go", got there they substituted what I ordered for something else which was not what I wanted and was more expensive. I had no idea prior to going there that I was not getting the item I ordered. Delivery person said they sent me an email about the substitution and I agreed. Neither is true, did not receive an email and would not have agreed. They have refunded, but cost me time and a round-trip for nothing.

All I wanted was 2 or 3 flowers .. just something simple, but not roses. Pretty simple. My only choice was to buy a full arrangement. The clerk had no alternatives. Full arrangement, or nothing. I picked out the 3 flowers I wanted, and tossed the other 8. Although the clerk will never know, I will. When I drive by Safeway on my way to winco, I’ll have my reasons. When I gas up at arco, I’ll know. When I buy wine at Trader Joe’s, I’ll know.m

I've been going to this store for four years. I've had great customer service over those years from pharmacy, butcher counter, check out etc. The people who work here, work hard, even through the pandemic, showed up to their own risk. Yes, sometimes the supply chain can cause issues on inventory. That's to be expected. I've seen comments on Chinese food. I can relate. However, I order Chinese from Chinese restaurants and not a grocery store. To their defense, if it's sold it should be good. But, my review reflects my experience.

The gas station at this location has no desire to provide customer service. They are rude - especially the black chick. Point out that the other employees are standing around talking will get you asked to leave. Yet another excuse to not pump gas.

The customer service department refused to return items that we had purchased in there store claim they were novelty items. Since when is shampoo and athlete's foot cream novelty items? The worker was rude and wasn't willing to work with us at all.

Yesterday, at my request, my husband picked up a package of croissants at the Safeway on Commercial in Salem. These neither looked nor tasted like true croissants which should be tender and flaky. These appeared to be made from a yeast dough similar to a dinner role. They weren't tender and certainly not flaky at all. Apparently the Safeway baker has never had the opportunity to eat a delicious Croissant at a Paris street side cafe. My sympathies.

Manager Cody is a pathetic human being targeting cats and kittens that live behind store. Active rescue is in place. It is ok to throw away food and water dishes, but walk by rotting food, discarded food containers and used needles. What a brave, tough man he must think he is. Take your shopping elsewhere. I definitely will never shop there again.

Great staff and prices. The only issue is the south entrance is closed after 8pm, but the south entrance is the only entrance with carts available. It can be very challenging for mobility impaired.
