About El Caporal Sunriver

El Caporal Sunriver offers wonderful food with generous servings, but be prepared for tourist pricing. The restaurant is often busy due to its popularity and has about 11-12 tables, which makes it a little small. It is tucked away in the far corner of The Village in Sunriver. The menu includes vegetarian options and accommodates dietary restrictions, making it a kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible spot. The food, including dishes like relleno and tamal, is fresh and flavorful, with some dishes like the tacos pescado with halibut cooked perfectly. The service can be a little slow, especially on busy nights or after fresh snow on the mountain, but the owner/manager is often doing everything to keep things running smoothly. Beverages such as beer, wine, and tea are available. Overall, many find the atmosphere and food fantastic, and the restaurant remains a popular choice for Mexican cuisine despite some higher prices. Customers generally leave satisfied, eager to return.

Update 2026. We have not changed our opinions. Still great food! Thanks.

It's good food but they desperately need to fix the place up a bit, ripped booths and dust on the windowsill isn't ideal

💯Hands down one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Pacific Northwest. The food is flavorful, authentic, and always hits the spot. The margaritas are made incredibly well — balanced, fresh, and honestly some of the best I’ve had. The atmosphere is welcoming, the service is warm, and you can tell the staff truly care about the experience they give their guests. Definitely a place worth visiting again and again🥂
