When I heard of this new sando place, I was not expecting the ambiance that it has. It's a very casual, order at the counter and bus your own table type of atmosphere. Now for the food, we got the fruit sando which was good! And the pork katsu sando which I thought was pretty good too but the katsu was tiny for what I paid for. It also had either a wasabi or horseradish sauce on the sandwich which was very overpowering; I typically love a good burn with sushi but I'm not sure if I liked it in my sandwich where every bite I had to pinch my nose because of the burn. Overall, it's not a bad place! If I was in the area and needed food I would come here but I wouldn't go out of my way to order something here.

Disappointed by the lack of vegan options at Tanaka. Although I ordered the spicy tofu katsu in a lettuce wrap, it didn't provide the same experience as Tokyo Sando in downtown Portland. I was disappointed that the spicy tofu katsu sandwich wasn't actually spicy but more tangy like barbecue sauce. And, the fries were saltier than expected. The patio is nice and friendly for dogs especially on a warm day! Make sure to bus yourself.

I got the Pork katsu sando. The pork and bread were delicious, but something was done to the cabbage to make it taste like wasabi, which goes up your nose. It is strange to me that all of the sandwiches were like this (my friends ordered different ones and had the same experience). The sandwich wasn’t bad, just unexpected. $13 for a sandwich without fries or fruit is a bit outrageous. Wouldn’t recommend the food, but the employees and atmosphere was very nice.

It was my first time going to the Bridgeport location. I love the plant decor they have and really makes up for the ambiance. You order as soon as you come in and seat yourself. Cold days can be tricky since everyone wants to stay indoors - you might find yourself having to wait on the side for a table to open up when people leave. I did notice they had outdoor seating, which will be perfect for warm days. We ordered the fries (which was paired with curry-like sauce) and both the pork and chicken katsu sandwiches. Both of the meats were so tender and easy to bite into.

Came back here again to try a different sandwich! Since it has been open for a while now the line isn't as long so you can place your order pretty quickly. The person who took my order was super nice and answered my questions about the sandwiches. There are plenty of places to sit in the inside and I'm excited for the weather to get warmer so I can sit on the patio. This time I got the egg salad sando. I honestly liked this one more than the katsu because it had a lot more filling and the egg salad had a hint of yuzu the pairs nicely! The egg is nicely cooked and there are bigger chunks of egg white for texture. I also liked that there was a lot of lettuce, it was refreshing. This place is nice and super tasty for a quick lunch while shopping!

I cannot believe this place has 4 stars! I went here a few weeks ago and had the Tanaka Dip. It was SO GOOD/5 stars. I brought one home for my husband to try, and he loved it. My friend and I got the nuggets and fries to share/try, and they were great. My 9 year old son would love the nuggets with ranch. We plan to go back for sure.

Kid-friendliness: There are high chairs available and a couple of kids menu options. Though neither of the bathrooms have a changing table there are family restrooms located very close by.

It was my first time trying this place. You could smell the deliciousness from outside. After sitting outside on a beautiful day I was shocked how long it took to get just a sand which and fries, over 40 minutes! Supper disappointed I thought it would be quick. Also, this place is overpriced for the quality, quantity you receive.
