Between us we lived in Germany for almost 25 years. We do not understand why this place isn’t packed with happy customers! The service was good as the waitress wasn’t busy at all. The beer on tap was excellent and my Cordon Bleu, though not traditional, delivered all the flavors I looked for. My wife’s Holsteiner Schnitzel was expertly prepared and she said it was delicious also. Her Liebfraumilch wine also delivered yumminess! Definitely worth the drive!

We make sure to come here every year after working at the Gettysburg wine festival. The staff is great and the food is so so good. It's true comfort food.

The food was wonderful with a great selection of German beer. I don't know anything about smell everything looked wonderful Yes it's an old building that's been around a long time. 55 years ago I proposed my wife there. I would recommend it to anybody.

You would have to get on a boat and sail to Europe to find authentic German food that is this good!I had the bratwurst on a roll with spicy mustard and homemade sauerkraut.. Simply amazing!! As I do at most restaurants, I had the Coleslaw. Again, it was homemade and delicious!!! I took some home because I believe coleslaw is the perfect midnight snack! My wife had the Rueben and loved it!! Said it was TOO MUCH TO EAT!!Yes, the portions were filling, and she got to enjoy some of that saurkraut as well!!The decor reminded me of the display my mother had in her shrunk in Frankfurt!Mary was our waitress and she could not have been friendlier or more helpful!! Great service!!We will definitely return. I have to try the dumplings and ROULADEN!!

When visiting Gettysburg we were in the mood for German food, Googled and found this place. We saw the mixed reviews and decided to try it out. When we arrived the first and most noticeable thing was the musty/ pungent odor of the old building. It was NOT pleasant and if we hadn't driven 25 minutes already we probably would have turned around and left. Still hopeful of decent food we sat down and ordered. We travel a lot and have had many delicious German dinners under our belt. This meal felt like they had given up on taste, seasoning and presentation. That coupled with the fact that the restaurant needs a good cleaning and a total remodel left us with a negative impression overall. The owners should take note that patrons notice when the inside/outside of their building needs cleaning and maintenance. In my opinion the $70+ dollars spent was definitely not worth it. The one positive was our waitress who was working the entire dining room by herself. She was super friendly and polite even though she could have used some extra help.

We come here mainly for the bar and the atmosphere. I've reduced my rating because now for some odd reason the bar is cash only while the restaurant half is both cash/credit. The food is good, the menu is too big for the restaurant, they should reduce the menu and focus on the German and bar food portion. Do not order seafood as I've ordered on two occasions and both have been disappointing.

This place was great, the decor is authentic and the waitress was wonderful. They had all our favorites and it was cooked perfectly. We will definitely go back, but with more people

Waitress was super friendly. We ordered our meal to go and the portions were large. The food was wonderful and was exactly what we were looking for. Loved the ambiance in the restaurant and were invited to look around while we waited for our food.

My first visit to the Hofbrauhaus in 25 years, and I definitely enjoyed it. My jaegerschnitzel came out with just the right amount of spice and flavor, and the crackers and cheese spread made for a solid appetizer. The restaurant was quiet as it was a weekend afternoon, but I imagine it would be rather lively for dinner with more patrons and the German music playing in the background.

I had the sauerbration with hot potato salad and red cabage. The meat was on the sparse side and not fresh. Perhaps made prior and reheated. The hot potato salad was a little mushy perhaps do to the same problem. The red cabbage fas decent My wife had a grilled sandwich that she said was very good. The decore is outdated and a little cleaning could improve the enviroment also. Many of the nicknacks were dusty and a good cleaning was in order. We have eaten there several times over the past 5 years and there price was a little expensive for the quality and quanity of food provided. This will be our last trip there. It was valentines day and there were only 6 people dinning at 6 PM. I guess that tells the story.
