As we were headed through Altoona during dinner time, we decided to find a place to stop and eat. We made a great choice with Al’s Tavern. The wood panel walls and framed vintage posters give it a retro vibe. The food was really good. We split a Baked Ham and Cheese sub and a large order of fried. I didn’t love all of the lettuce and dressing on the sandwich but it was good enough that I would order it again. We appreciated that all of the wait staff shared responsibility...
We stopped here bc of Google reviews. We were passing through Altoona and decided to check it out. It’s definitely worth it. It has a great atmosphere and the staff are all fantastic. You don’t just have one server… they all come to your table and they’re very attentive. The food was good and the portions are huge. Prices are also good. Check it out!
We are from Canada and go to Buffalo for wings at the Anchor Bar where apparently the “wing” was invented. Al’s Tavern blew away the Anchor Bar. Service was fantastic. Staff were friendly portions were huge. A shout out to Al’s Daughter-in-law, you’re the best! How did you get the beers so cold? We will definitely be back!!!
