This is an absolutely amazing restaurant, with incredible Thai food, some of the best service I have ever received, and the quaint atmosphere. One of the owners, Swee, manages the front of the restaurant. She is very busy managing takeout orders while also being the sole person working all the tables.Prices are very reasonable, and the food quality is superb.I got a khao soi (curry with egg noodles and chicken) and it was so delicious. it was presented beautifully, and the flavors were rich and spicy. I asked it for the hottest they could make, and they did not disappoint. This is one of the best Thai restaurants you can go to, and they definitely deserve all of the business around town!Vegetarian options: Many dishes have the option to be made with tofu. This makes the dishes vegetarian. I am not sure if they make food without fish sauce or oyster sauce, however.

Top notch Thai food, always a great option when we’re in the Altoona area!! Haven’t gotten anything we didn’t love. Fried dumplings, Pad Thai and drunken noodles are awesome!

Aoy Thai Restaurant gets a 10 out of 10 for taste!I have had a lot of Thai food in the past, so I can make a fair comparison.Step into Aoy Thai Restaurant, and you are met with a lovely pinkish and brown theme, accented by an eye-catching purple and gold wallpaper behind the counter.I started with the fish cakes appetizer and moved on to the green curry with tofu, requesting the dish to be extra spicy. The flavors of the coconut milk, vegetables, tofu, and with the other ingredients made this dish a masterpiece. Eating that dish was a highly enjoyable experience.I also tasted the wings, Satay fried rice with chicken and shrimp, and the Thai fried rice. The other dishes were loaded with flavor. The menu has other enticing options to choose from.Aoy Thai Restaurant has an ample drink selection. I randomly selected Pure Palm Juice. It is a refreshing drink reminiscent of coconut water. A nice bonus is that it is low in sugar, with only one gram of sugar listed on the label. One sip convinced me I needed to buy another bottle, which is exactly what I did.The portions are perfect, every dish is just enough food to fill a person up. And even better, the prices will NOT cause financial strain. In conclusion, Aoy Thai Restaurant will offer you a memorable dining experience and I am sure you will return again and again.

Wonderful Thai gem in Altoona. Very flavourful Massaman Curry and enough to provide dinner and lunch the next day with the rice! We ordered take out and the food was ready when promised. My wife has Gluten, Dairy and Sesame allergies and normally cannot eat from restaurants in Altoona. She enjoyed her Pad Thai very much and had no reactions. Authentic non-alcoholic drinks from Thailand were enjoyed as well.

This has become my go to spot for Thai food in the area. Staff are always kind and friendly. Dining room is cozy and sometimes there are issues with seating but only because the place is so popular. Having spent some time in Thailand I can confidently say it is as close as you are going to get to the real deal within 80 miles. If you are new to thai food you may want to stick to the curries or fried chicken.

I travel for work and seldom have good meals in Altoona. Aoy was recommended by several people and I was completely impressed by the amazing flavors, textures, temperature, and quality of the food I had. This is a tiny restaurant in a small strip mall but the server was friendly, attentive, and frankly worked her butt off waiting on customers, taking phone orders, and handing out takeout orders. I had a simple meal -- the spring rolls which were fabulous; the yum yai salad which had large pieces of white chicken breast and several whole, peeled shrimp; and for an entree, Thai spicy (no 4) red curry. The curry was hot but nowhere near as hot as I was hoping even after adding more heat. But the flavor, texture, and amount of chicken and vegetables was outstanding. I spoke with several of the other customers to get ideas for my next visit. All the other reviews here are correct -- Aoy is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G and I'm so glad to have enjoyed a delicious meal served by a friendly and attentive server. I can't wait to come back ... five stars and two thumbs up. Yum !!

What a great find! We've had curry from many parts of the US and even Asia yet we found this place to have the best flavor profile and spice level of any of them.We started with fish cakes which were the December special and they didn't disappoint. The texture and flavor were on point and the sauce that was served with it complimented it so well. We then had Massaman Curry with chicken and jasmine rice. The creaminess and spice level of the curry was again on point. The potatoes and the carrots that were in the curry were cooked to perfection that were fork tender. The place was nice and clean and our waitress was very attentive to the point that she asked us our names, wrote them down, and addressed us by name every time she returned to the table. I can't remember any restaurant I've ever been in that had that level of detail. This is a must try for anyone in the area craving a nice curry!

Incredible food. Had the mango green curry and Pad Thai which were both delicious. The dining area is small so expect a little wait during busy times, but the food is worth the wait. Seems like a popular take out place.
