Planchette is becoming our go-to place for lunch and dinner. The menu is only a small fraction of what is offered. For us, the specials are where its at. Delicious north-african style food- simply and deliciously prepared.

Bad croque-monsieur made on french toast, not supposed to go together

I sat outside with my book and a bottle of wine and savored a carrot cake and espresso on a warm Friday night, and it was absolute perfection. Previously I’ve had savory crêpes and an omelette for brunch. The place is overflowing with charm, and the owner is warm and welcoming. It is the perfect neighborhood French spot!

Update: Dinner #2
Officially the best seafood spot in Ambler, reminiscent of Parc— if you’e into the most charming, best people-watching spot in town accompanied by exceptional food.
Ask about the specials! and BYOB.. Ugh.

Once again enjoyed a fresh and delicious dinner for four people. The service was terrific and they had many specials not on the menu. The Bronzino was fabulous.

The food and service were wonderful. Parking can be a little difficult, but it was worth it.
My lava dessert was so tasty!

We recently had a marvelous experience catching up with old friends at this restaurant. The food was excellent, with an abundance of fresh fish options. Grilled calamari, Trout Meunière, and Dover Sole were among the expertly prepared and beautifully served dishes we enjoyed that evening. Our guests arrived later than expected, but the owner graciously allowed us to push back our reservation and to linger comfortably on a slow Sunday night. We are so appreciative of his kindness.

If I could leave zero stars I would. First, let me start off by saying the most horrible customer service I have ever dealt with. Living in ambler I will be sure to share with multiple people my experience. I ordered a French onion soup and chicken Caesar salad and was charged $25 for my chicken Caesar salad. On their website it is advertised that the salad is $13 +6 dollars to add chicken. When I called the next day and told them that I was discharged, he shared with me that it is old pricing and he cannot do anything for me. I also shared with him that I did not even eat the salad because of the amount of anchovy paste that was in the dressing. The salad tasted like tunafish and could not even be eaten. The owner or manager who I dealt with, was absolutely rude and told me to go ahead and share my experience online and write a horrible review because he was not doing anything for me after this. I have never in my life had a chicken Caesar salad cost $25 let alone the most basic disgusting salad I have ever eaten in my life. There was no croutons on a Caesar salad and it was fairly small for a $25 dish. Stay far away from this restaurant unless you are Looking to deal with poor customer service and be very unsatisfied.

A memorable Mother’s Day Dinner: Rude, overpriced and mediocre. A Mother’s Day - we made reservation they took it for 7:30p arrived few minutes late. I was not greeted, seated at worst table and server gave me exasperated look. While awaiting for my party to park asked for the menu to start appetizers, the server stated “I told you to be here at 7:30, it is 7:47pm”and refused to give me a menu.

My party arrived and finally gave us a menu. I should have left and gave the server my peace of mind but it is Mother’s Day despite feeling disrespected and treated so badly at the start. We stayed. Tried to order appetizer and same server informed me “I need ALL the orders now”. I then pressured my family to choose their meal while server was looking annoyed at us. My husband asked to move to a different table and the server changed his attitude and said he will take the order after we move to a better table.

The rest of the meal was okay at best. They messed up the order had to wait for bouillabaisse after everyone had their meal served because the server was annoyed and in a rush. Considering each entree was ranged from $45-$55 I expected better from the food but even more from their attitude. After the server acknowledge missing my order he offered dessert in compensation which we appreciated. However, when the bill came they charged us for all the dessert and had to clarify his offer and said he can only remove 1 dessert.

Overall the most horrible experience I had as a customer in a restaurant that touts gourmet with okay food. The best thing on the menu was the calamari, grilled octopus and the fries they were superior to their overpriced entree.

As for the server and his rudeness it is inexcusable but I forgive you, you may have family that was waiting for you hence your rush to close and want to go home on Mothers Day but you made mine memorable. The food may have been more palatable if it weren’t for this interaction.

If you want French food in Ambler we highly recommend La Provence with better food, ambience and professionalism from all the staff, unfortunately they are closed on Sundays.

My son said the strawberry Nutella Crape for desert was amazing!

The service was extremely slow. My steak came out ice cold, but the rest of the food was hot. And honestly, the prices were very high for the quality of the food.

Went for Mothers Day. Price gouging was extreme. Kitchen was overwhelmed. Service overwhelmed. Entrees took over an hour. They didn't even post the menu with the prices on their website ahead of time showing a special menu. Have been a couple of times before but won't go again.

I've lost count of how many times I've had lunch/dinner at Planchette since they opened. Crepes? Delicious! Soup? superb! fresh fish? YUM! and desserts? definitely conclude your meal with ANY of the offerings. The owner is always "in house" and attention is paid to every request.

Ron

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Everything we had was delicious from the bread to soup to the crepes and croques to dessert. Also very reasonable prices!

Terry
