My wife and I both had filet mignon (6 oz): cooked to perfection, tender, and delicious. Side of carrots and mashed potatoes were also delicious. Remember when ordering sides that there is enough for two people. Waitress (Michelle) was very pleasant and attentive. She answered our questions competently and stopped by the table often to make sure we had what we wanted. Ambiance was outstanding. The dining room is part of the original tavern from 1796. There is a fine display of Revolutionary War armaments. Lighting is moderate to add to the atmosphere. Hostess was very accommodating when I requested a table away from the noisy party ahead of us in line. Reservations are a must especially later in the evening. We ate at 5 PM and the restaurant was about half full. By the time we left at 7 PM it was almost full.

Normally this place is absolutely amazing . However something has changed and went massively down hill . I bring people here all the time for certain food items . 400 dollars worth of food and drinks this time and only one thing was edible . The rest had to get tossed . Staff was very understanding and apologetic. However only a small portion of the entire bill was taken off . I would rank it up to a bad night in the kitchen maybe but at this level and this price , that can't be an excuse . Extremely disappointed

We really enjoyed our meal! Food and service were fabulous! Decor...historic, but in a good way!

The service was great and our server was attentive, but this is pretty par for the course at the resort. The food was good, but not sure it was "that good." I would probably not dine here again and just go to the Tavern.

Our meal at 1796 was very good. The quality of the steaks is what you would expect from a place that serves prime beef. The dry aged NY strip is very tender yet full of flavor. Our server Hannah was amazing, she made the whole experience even better and look forward to coming back.

Service was excellent. Ambiance, just ok. Food was honestly a little disappointing. Steaks were overdone and under seasoned. Flavors of the sides were good, especially the steak sauce. Would expect more for the cost. Probably would not go back — Frontier Tavern had better food next door if staying at the Omni.

Excellent service. Accommodating and friendly but a tad slow. I was okay with that because I had nowhere to be and was still in and out in a reasonable period of time. Server was the perfect mix of attentive but not overbearing. Food was probably 6/10? It was well cooked but unseasoned? That can sometimes allow the ingredients used to really shine, but somehow, it did not. The best part of the meal was the butter with smoked sea salt that went with the bread service. (That's never a great look.) Cocktail was also strong and delicious and deserves mentioning.

I chose the 1796 Room at the Omni Bedford Springs Resort to celebrate my birthday.

The highlights of the meal were the absolutely phenomenal bread and the Death By Chocolate cake for dessert. If you come to this restaurant- do not miss the Death By Chocolate. It's incredibly light and flavorful- decadently delicious.

My B-51 cocktail was also lovely. Our side of Sautéed Local Mushrooms was delicious and I do recommend that.

Our server was attentive and warm, which was much appreciated.

Otherwise, unfortunately, we were pretty disappointed with our meals.

The Crispy Fried Calamari was obviously frozen calamari with a quite heavy fry on it. The truffle dip didn't have any truffle that we could taste.

The Three Cheese Onion Soup was fine, but not amazing. There was so much bread and onion that there was scarcely any broth.

We splurged on the 8oz Wagyu Center cut Filet Mignon and I'm not sure how that is justified to be described as Wagyu. I've had more tender and flavorful Filet Mignon at half that price.

My husband's 8oz Wagyu Center cut Filet Mignon had a fish flavor to it, as though it'd been cooked right next to salmon.

Our dining companion's Jumbo Shrimp with garlic & herb butter spaghetti was better than our steaks, but just the pasta part. The shrimp was so over-cooked and rubbery as to be practically inedible.

The Truffle & Parmesan Fries were just okay. Frozen fries with some parmesan sprinkled on them.

I couldn't in good conscious rate the food lower than 3 stars based on how delicious the bread and cake were, but I wouldn't return here because the price does not in any way reflect the bulk of the quality of the food you will be receiving.

Over-cooked shrimp and a steak that tastes like fish at this price-point? Unacceptable.

Parking: This restaurant is within the Omni Bedford Resort. Valet parking is the only option.

Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant is up a flight of stairs. Also, the walkways are rather narrow between tables. They may have an elevator to go up to this restaurant, but it was not immediately obvious. I would call ahead and check if this is a need.

My husband and I visited for our anniversary, what a great idea it was. We have never been to the resort before so this was a great way to check it out.
We started with the shrimp cocktail and their cranberry bread, it was still warm and the flavors were perfect. For entrees I got the crab crakes, they tasted so fresh like they came from the ocean same day. My husband got the wagyu steak with onions and he said it was cooked to absolute perfection. We also shared the lobster mac n cheese, and WOW the chunks of lobster were huge! They also sent us home with a chocolate cupcake since we were celebrating, such a nice touch. Our server was very kind and presented the menu to us so we'd know exactly what was being offered.

My only complaint is the lack of options for appetizers. I would've loved some stuffed mushrooms or cheese dip.

We were here celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary. The food was excellent and prepared the way we like it. Our server was Emily and I really have to give her the highest praise that I can for her excellent service and attention. She was a delight and definitely a shining example of the performance of service that the restaurant wants to offer.
