If your only going to experience the atmosphere of the haunted tavern then you will love it, however if you are going for the food, stay home. Everything we ordered was over-cooked and rubbery plus the prices were exorbitant for the amount of food received.

Just spent 2 1/2 hrs. at this place to order crab dip and a cheese steak. The atmosphere is so dismal and dark. Not a place you want to spend that much time. Our server Andrew was not attentive at all. Had to keep asking for drink refills etc. Again, it was 2 1/2 hrs. The cheese steak was burnt and the crab dip was absolutely terrible. When the couple behind us left. The woman came over to our table and asked if we got the crab dip? I said we did and she laughed and said it was cream cheese and seafood seasoning. No crab!!! I told her I tasted cream cheese and ranch dressing. She said she will not be back and I said the same. Never again!!! Also, the fish sandwich had to be eaten with a fork because it was so soggy and the sweet tea tasted like chemical. Andrew could have cared less about either.

My wife and I got married in the area. In search of an after party location we found The Bedford Tavern. We were able to talk to the owners before hand to see if they would be ok to have a wedding party come over after our reception was finished. Not only were they Ok with it, they we more than happy to help us continue celebrating into the night. Thank you so much for topping off a great night!!

Service was great. Food was ok. We ate in the basement bar area with kids. It wasn't dirty, but wasn't the cleanest either. If we were from the area, I doubt we would go back.

Food was pretty good, service was great, thank you Andrew. They offer a quite a few menu options. I thought it would be more historically themed inside but it was not.

Parking: Parked for free on the street. Not sure how parking would be other times of the day.

We stopped here on July 4 while traveling and visiting this nice American city. I appreciated that they responded to my email a week or so before to confirm they would be open. The food was excellent. Due to the holiday only the basement was open ( Looks like they did note that upstairs would be open if you had mobility issues which is kind ) The ambience was from years ago, and I only mean that in a good, nostalgic way.

I hate writing a negative review but this was just not an enjoyable meal. We had crab dip to start and the fried shrimp and fried oyster dinners and the food wasn’t good. Nothing tasted fresh and it lacked seasoning. The couple running the front of the house are really nice and the tavern has a cool history, but I can’t recommend eating here.

Maybe they were having an off night. I ordered the trio platter. Shrimp, scallops, and crab cake. The peel and eat shrimp were overcooked and smelled slightly funny. The scallops were dime sized and way overcooked from frozen. Tough and rubbery. Not good. The crab cake was deep fried and over cooked. Had a slightly old grease taste. The cocktail sauce Was very lumpy and just didn’t taste great. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. Bless her heart. The bottled beer was great. Old restaurant. The whole place has a sewer type smell to it. Just not a clean smell. The bar was very sticky. I was not impressed.

Thank you for getting back to me. Looking through the reviews, you are diligent about responding. I think as most patrons are, I was hesitant to say anything about the meal. I think a lot of people are worried about hurting feelings or feel like they don’t want to be treated different when complaining about food. I think I’m safe to say that the majority of people don’t say anything.

It seems like most of your negative reviews are about over cooked food and overall restaurant smell. Look…the scallops and crab cake were overcooked. I understand the scallops were of a different variety, but they were more than well done. They were not good. The shrimp was just not good. I don’t know how else to explain it.

As for the smell in the restaurant I can understand it’s a very old establishment. It smells like sewer gas.

I was not in a rush that Tuesday. I had all the time I needed. I was from out of town,
traveling through.

You also have many good reviews. I will
Stop again.
