I hosted my friend's baby shower at the Tavern at the Sun Inn and cannot say enough great things about the venue. From start to finish everything was great. Bill was so responsive to all of my emails, the food was delicious and the waitstaff was excellent. I highly recommend hosting any party there. You will not be disappointed.

I was hopeful this would be a fun night out. The host was so rude upon arrival. We did not have reservations so he said he would “try to fit us in”. We were brought upstairs and there was plenty of room, many empty tables all throughout our dinner, so not having reservations was not an issue. The waitress was being trained which is fine, but they must have been understaffed because she and her trainer were running around like crazy. One of our orders was entered incorrectly so when it came out we asked for a new order. When that one came out it was incorrect also but we just dealt with it. The room was very loud even though they have sound buffering under the tables. The beer was good. The cheesecake dessert was the smallest cheesecake I have ever seen.😂

Constructed by the Moravians in 1758, George Washington visited the Sun Inn in 1782, and now you can too. The inn is rustic and bare, which gives it a clean and open look. Ashlee was our amazing server who knew every drink and beverage and helped guide us through our choices. She was kind, professional, and downright stellar. We shared an empanada accompanied by a creamy and slightly spicy sauce (like ranch dressing mixed with Tabasco). My girlfriend got the cheeseburger, which she loved, and I enjoyed their amazing crab cakes. I'm not sure how the cakes stayed together because it was all crab with just the lightest golden breading. We're looking forward to returning!

So the food is above average, but I could not give it a very good rating. From a historical standpoint, it's a cool place. We went with a bunch of friends for lunch. The shrimp cocktail was good; one person liked their split pea soup, and the other did not. The stuffed mushrooms were good but very small. I had a good burger, but you have no bacon!!! Another person had the steak sandwich and liked it. Not a great selection of beer, and you have to walk down three flights of stairs to use the bathroom. Service and food were good, but going here for the 2nd remained the same view on going back. Other places on the main strip offer better options from my point of view.

Tavern at the Sun Inn saved the day today - actually Scott did! The food truck was closed today and I was sent upstairs to the bar, thank goodness we did! My friend and I had set in our minds what we wanted to beverage but now had no idea since the other menu was specific to the truck. Scott had asked what he could get us - my reply was simple- I needed one drink to be cherry bounce and another to be made with boilo. He did not disappoint!! Cherry bounce mule and the other was an apple cider boilo martini…I can’t even say which was better because they were both equally amazing! I didn’t catch the girl’s name that was also working up there, but she was a huge help with assisting me with carrying all the drinks to our table. Such a great place with amazingly friendly people working there! Can’t wait to visit again!

October 2022 Very old and well-maintained building with a lot of charm. Lunch menu was very limited but prices were good, but food was very ordinary and forgettable. Burger had no seasoning but I liked the spicy ketchup and roll. Flatbread was very soggy and plain, not like a more crispy flatbread you should expect. So 5 stars for atmosphere but 2 stars for the food.

Cool place with history, the ambiance was very nice, the food was good, but the service lacked unfortunately. Maybe it was an off night. I would go again if I was in the area. We would have loved to have had a drink downstairs in the bar, but the space was closed for a private event. The Moravian Honey Spice Cake drink was delicious!

Colonial museum, tavern and distillery all rolled into one! Had an excellent lunch here. To start, you must order the soft pretzel (but only if you have someone to share it with). It's served with mustard and a homemade cheese sauce. Along with the pretzel, get the corn chowder (which has just the right amount of bacon in it). Finish with a Moravian Brat. Don't leave without visiting the museum rooms and Christmas City Spirits for samples (we went home with a bottle of Boilo, try it)!

This was a great find while coming back from a nearby hike. The food was excellent and our waiter was awesome. Super personable and friendly. Everyone we encountered while there was really nice. Prices were also very reasonable. Was a very relaxing way to spend a sunny afternoon and we felt truly and genuinely welcomed. Would 100% recommend this place!

First time we ate indoors at this restaurant. Previously we ate at the outdoor dinning area. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was good, the hors d'oeuvres while very tasty were way too small, the mixed drinks were very tasty. The main course was also too small for most of our party of 4. My dinner, was supposed to be Portobello pasta, was just a few clumps of Portobello mushrooms and a large portion of tasteless macaroni - and the serving size was way too large.

Our group of 10 out-of-town friends dropped in on Saturday for a light lunch of soup and sliders after spending the morning perusing the local shops. We enjoyed a mildly seasoned curry squash soup and sliders. Good location, good service and the server was willing to take a group picture of us (which I know staff does not always have time to do). Two factors costing this review a point: Two of us who ordered squash soup were erroneously served broccoli cheese soup. And some but not all who ordered soup were given soup spoons. Had to make a special request. Not sure why that was. Not a big deal, though, considering how hard it is to hire and retain employees in the food service industry. We'll take what we can get these days and be grateful places are even open for business. Will definitely return.

The historic sun inn is half museum and half restaurant. It was a slow, stormy, Wednesday night and we were seated quickly. The lightning flashes could been seen through the colonial era glass in the windows as Patrick, our waiter, answered some questions about the menu. After taking our order my son asked if George Washington had slept here. Indeed he had. Fours times before becoming president and in the same room we were seated in. A brief history ensued and Washington was one of several presidents who’d stayed there. When he returned w out drinks and a sampler of their locally produced liquors he suggested that we tour the building while I meal was prepared. The first floor is a museum display of colonial kitchen and domestic living. We read the descriptive plaques aloud to one another as the intermittent atmospheric electrical display continued outside. While we visited the basement bar complete with vintage colonial riffles and pistols hanging on the walls, Patrick found us to say our dinner was ready. We returned to our delightful meal. My sin and I had the Tammany Burger, my daughter the chicken and my wife the salad, soft pretzel and beet toast. Everything was delicious and good sized. I plan to make the Sun Inn one of my regular stops when I visit Bethlehem.

Having eaten at all the downtown restaurants, my wife and I have never visited the Sun Inn and decided to give it a try. The inn itself is extremely interesting. You can browse the entire building and get a sense of what it must have been like hundreds of years ago. Having dinner though I was not impressed. The menu is limited and maybe we made the wrong choices, The mixed drinks we had were not very good and our food was just average. Having the Moore's Creek Wrap, the Moravian Brat and two Rebel Burgers they were just average and on the small side. One interesting thing to note were the sides that were offered with each meal. Choice of a salad or pretzel nuggets. I had the pretzel nuggets and wished I had gotten the salad instead. The pretzels were seasoned with spices and salt ( which I like ) but not something I would ever request again as a side to a meal.

An excellent meal in a historic inn in downtown Bethlehem. A well curated menu, wonderful drinks, and excellent service are a great choice in Bethlehem’s historic district. The cheese wheel is a great starter to share. Duck breast was just right. And don’t skip the blueberry bread pudding. There are many good choices in Bethlehem, but this is among the best.

This is a charming old building, but the Covid clamp down seems to have stifled their creativity in serving food and beverage. Seating is limited to outdoors, though it is in a very nice courtyard. The food menu is the same all day and we were disappointed in the quantity. I shared a large sangria with my cousin's wife and it was fairly well tasteless - really needed some fruit in it. The crab salad was a scant portion of crab though fresh. It really would be nice if they would serve a bit more variety or at least change up lunch to dinner. Service was adequate.
