“Man, I really appreciate KD here at TNWS. I came in the day before I ate and was asking for something really spicy. Told him I wanted to cry. He said come back tomorrow for something special. Man did he deliver. He went and got some habaneros and I think some other peppers just for me.

Now I didn't quite cry, though I was sniffling a good bit. But he took me on a trip. He didn't just make something hot. No, no, no. Anyone can make something hot. The important part is whether it's good. He made me some wings with a deep, flavorful heat. You could taste the love and passion he made them with. Excellent stuff. The incredible Tony Campbell led the band the night we went, and the energy was electric. Tuesday nights are jam sessions, and the place gets packed for a good reason. What blew me away is that the band actually lets people from the audience join in. If you bring an instrument and want to perform, they’ll give you the stage. Where else can you play in front of professionals and a live crowd? That’s rare, and it makes the night unforgettable. This was a surprise date night from my husband, and the vibe was everything! Intimate, soulful, and alive. The tofu dish sealed it for me, perfectly prepared and full of flavor. Con Alma isn’t just dinner. It’s culture, community, and connection. Highly recommend if you want an authentic jazz experience you can’t find anywhere else in Pittsburgh. 🥰“

As a health conscious family, who doesn’t consume pork or pork bi-products, we’re don’t often eat out but when we learned that House of Soul doesn’t use pork, we ran over to try them and baby, they did NOT disappoint!! The ribs are BOMB! And the fact that my bodybuilder husband was able to find things on the menu that fit within his meal plan was everything! The kids loved the food too! The owner, Kay is super sweet! You can tell she puts her heart and soul (pun intended) into her food! Since first tasting House of Soul 2 months ago, we’ve been back 4 times 🫣… and we’ll very likely be going back again soon!“
