I strongly do not recommend Sankalp.
From the moment we arrived, the experience was disappointing. Despite the restaurant being half-empty, and staying that way throughout our visit, the staff gave us a hard time for not having a reservation.
The ambiance was appalling; the entire place reeked of urine, making it extremely unpleasant to sit through the meal.
As for the food, completely overpriced and underwhelming. We ordered a sizzler that cost $25 and received just six small pieces of paneer, with no real vegetables apart from a couple of onion rings. To make matters worse, the dishes arrived one at a time and quite late, with no coordination.
To top it all off, they automatically added a 20% gratuity to our bill simply because we were a party of five, and then had the audacity to suggest additional tips.
Overall, poor service, absurd pricing, and an unhygienic environment. Absolutely not worth your time or money.

Absolutely worst food. The management changed recently. Apparently, the prices has been adjusted. But, the food taste has gone very bad. Had ordered so many items for take out today. Not 1 item was good. Never ordering here again

Absolutely the worst dining experience imaginable. Visited this restaurant for the first time today with friends for our graduation party, and it was a disaster from start to finish. The food was ridiculously overpriced, completely tasteless, and not worth a single penny.
First, they impose a mandatory 20% gratuity for groups of 5 or more, which is outrageous and unjustifiable, especially considering the abysmal service. The server was outright rude and arrogant when we requested extra plates or asked questions about the dishes. Completely unprofessional!
Now onto the food – a complete disaster. I ordered some curries and what was supposed to be a lachha paratha. What arrived looked like a half-baked tortilla at best, with zero resemblance to an actual lachha paratha. The curries? One was oversalted to the point of being inedible, while another had no spice or flavor whatsoever.
Overall, this place is a scam. Bland, overpriced food paired with rude staff and absurd policies. Save your money and go literally anywhere else. There are far better and cheaper options nearby that won't leave you feeling robbed and disrespected. Avoid this place like the plague!"

Good food, but unfortunately, poor service. We ordered takeout from here on Monday night. The restaurant alerted us that the food would be ready for pickup at 6:37pm. My husband arrived at 6:37 and noticed a bag with our name on it waiting at the front. When he went to take the bag, the man behind the counter yelled at him and told him the order wasn't ready yet. My husband then proceeded to wait another hour beyond the original wait time for the rest of our order. When he expressed concern that the food that was sitting out would be cold, the guy was very rude and unapologetic. Ultimately, the food was good but not very warm. In the past, we have ordered from here many times for dine in and takeout. This was our first bad experience. Even though the wait was long, the poor customer service was extremely disappointing and will make me think twice before ordering again.

We ordered a big order ($180) to bring home to feed people during the football game. The food was good tasting but my they gave so little. I expected more for that order. The chicken tiki masala had exactly 4 pieces of chicken. The quantity was very disappointing. I had to order pizzas to fill the gap. There were 6 of us and it didn't fill the bill.

Pretty much done with this place. The food is good, but they are terrible with getting take out orders out at promised times. Have done 4 orders through them. 1 has been on time. The three others have all been 20-30 minutes delayed. While good, this is just not worth the poor takeout service.

We came with outside guests who wanted to dine South Indian cuisine. Thought of Sanklup due to the restaurant design and usually good food and ambiance. We have been here multiple times and thought to impress family visiting from NYC. Was so disappointed as we arrived they were busy but there 4 empty tables . They seemed not happy working and seemed irritated and not accommodating . When asked if we could join 2 tables , I would have understood if they politely explained and or tried to work with us . Instead got attitude like they don’t care don’t need your business - you staying or not does not impact them. They were clear that they were not going to do any thing - wait 45 min or go else where and that’s exactly what we did. Customer service is an art - how to deal with customers and give them a smile , I guess they don’t need my business and I will not plan to come back . That staff needs customer interaction training , politeness and a helpful nature with a smile is a must. There are many choices in Pittsburgh and the food is comparable in many other locations. I am not traveling 1 hour to get disrespected by a restaurant where the food is on the higher side compared to their competitors.i wish them luck if they continue to think customers don’t need to be treated with a welcoming smile .

After hearing a lot of recommendations, my wife and I decided to visit Sankalp on the evening of December 19th. We ordered a bowl of soup, Chole Bhature, and Mysore Masala Dosa.
The soup was served within 5 minutes and was delicious. However, we were surprised when the Chole Bhature arrived just 2 minutes later, as both dishes are typically best enjoyed hot. It was manageable, though, and we continued with our meal.
But then, the real wait began for the Mysore Masala Dosa. Over 40 minutes passed with no dosa in sight. We reminded the server, and he assured us it would take just a couple more minutes. Another 8-10 minutes passed, and still no dosa. By then, our appetite was already gone, so we asked if we could cancel the order. Initially, the server told us the dosa was ready and would be coming soon, but 5 minutes later, he returned with the check, saying our order had been canceled.
I was really surprised by the mismanagement, especially considering it was a Thursday evening, and the restaurant was not busy at all. To top it off, the server mentioned that the dosa takes some time to prepare—I'm left wondering why a simple dosa would take an hour to prepare in a large restaurant like this. Overall, it was a disappointing experience for such a well-known chain.

We had a bad experience eating here. When we ordered vegetarian mentioning explicitly that we are very particular, chicken item was served and luckily before we had that, it was taken. Some of the items had excess salt. The amount of food color added is also very high. In case you are looking for pure vegetarian options or homely food, I would not recommend this. There were few items that were okay but us visiting first time did not had a pleasant dining experience.
