“My wife and I ate here last night (6/27/23), after dropping our son off at St. Joseph's University orientation, and generally speaking, it was fantastic. Our waitress, Jen, was at the forefront of why our experience was so positive. She was attentive, and really engaged us in conversation. We split the cheesesteak eggroll appetizer, which was delicious. For our entree, my wife got a salad with a giant meatball (don't know the name...sorry, LOL). I went with baked lasagna, and I felt the portion was more than enough. I typically finish everything, but we brought a little bit of lasagna home, along with what was left of her salad. We couldn't pass up dessert, and there was a lot to choose from. We settled on the zeppoles, which did NOT disappoint. The 3.5% charge to pay with a card, isn't ideal, but it is clearly stated, on a sign on the hostess station, as soon as you walk in. If that's a possible dealbreaker, there is a cash machine in the restaurant, if you want to pay with cash. We would (and probably will, at some point over the next four years) return!“

I was born and raised in Bryn Mawr. I've since moved to VA, but visit family here 2-5x a year. Every time I come, I get a cheese steak from somewhere.

Most of the OG places have either changed their menu or quality, or are gone and have been replaced. The new places keep trying these "artisanal" breads and other stuff...

Turns out it was on our way home so I ordered myself a steak and cheese and my son a meatball sub (with fries.) I could only eat 1/4 and even the next day it still tasted amazing! The meat was juicy and flavored, soft bread, and fries salty and delicious. My son ate all of his in about 10 minutes. Would love to return again. This time to get pizza. “Popped in this afternoon for a quick bite. Note that you need to order in the back of you’re just walking in off the street. Ordered the ribeye panini. I guess it was their riff on a cheesesteak. Overall decent. Sandwich, fries and drink $24, maybe a little steep for a quick lunch but not overly aggressive. I enjoyed my lunch peacefully. Got some work done, but no wifi so I was in and out under 30 min. If I’m in the area again I’ll probably pop back in.“

“I live nearby and Bierhaul has become one of my go-to spots year-round. My wife and I have an active 6 year old and in nice weather this place is hard to beat - great outdoor seating and space for a kid to move around. Interior is also great - I like how there are televisions for sports but it's not obnoxious like an actual sports bar. I have found the food to be largely excellent - not everything is a home run but overall the quality is very good, the portions are large and the prices are fair (wings are outstanding). Beer selection is good and interesting rotation. I see some people have complained about how it''s crowded at times, and it is - this is an area where that's not so common and guess what, welcome to popularity! That said the service has always been solid and even when it's crowded the staff make an effort to be available. Highly recommend.“

My only comment would be that when picking up (not eating in or getting delivery), I don’t like being expected to pay a tip. A tip is for service beyond the kitchen, while the bill should include everything else.“
