I happened to head out to see an old high school buddy and he recommended this place. I’m guessing they had no idea the person of color they were about to deny service to, comes from a wealthy place and is highly educated but regardless, we walk up and out of nowhere a guy appears after my buddy is already inside and says “sorry fellas, we’d be happy to have you another night but tonight you’ve had too much.” Given I’ve never interacted with this person and have no idea how he could come to that conclusion, I ask him exactly what has led him to that conclusion. He doesn’t answer and sticks to his party line of we’d be happy to have you another time. I don’t have time to figure out people like this so we left but suffice it say, if you’re people of color, best to stay away. I think they prefer it that way and I’m happy to oblige.

And before some management response says “please contact us”, sorry I attempted to have an intelligent conversation the night of. Your racist representatives were unwilling to treat me as a human and as a result, you are treated to this accurate review.

I had really high hopes for East Branch Brewing Company because I’d heard good things, but I honestly haven’t been this disappointed in a long time. We went on a Friday around 5 and sat at the bar. The place wasn’t busy at all—maybe 2 to 4 other people sitting at the bar besides us—yet our bartender barely paid us any attention, spending most of the time chatting with other guests. Oddly enough, I got more attention from the girl who filled my water and cleared plates than from the person actually serving us.

On top of that, even though it wasn’t busy, it was still surprisingly hard to hear. The space doesn’t seem to have much sound absorption, so you can barely hear your server who’s standing right in front of you.

We ordered a few things:

Fried Goat Cheese – Good, but honestly it’s hard to mess that up.

Brisket Noodles – My husband enjoyed them and they definitely packed heat, but I felt like the dish was missing a sweetness to balance it out. I also don’t think brisket was the right protein—it felt heavy and dry compared to how nicely pork belly might have worked.

EBBC Dry Rubbed Wings – This was the biggest letdown. They were cooked so dry I could barely eat half of them, and you can literally see in the photo how burnt most were. I get that they’re smoked wings, but these were beyond overdone. Sauce or no sauce, they shouldn’t have been sent out like that, especially when the kitchen wasn’t busy. I can’t believe a chef looked at them and thought they were okay to serve.

Dessert was another disappointment with only one option available, which felt like an afterthought for a place trying to be a full dining experience.

The one saving grace was that my husband did enjoy his beer. So maybe this is a good spot if you’re only coming for drinks and don’t care much about the food. But for me, I go out wanting great food first and good drinks second, and East Branch Brewing Company really missed the mark.

East Branch Brewing Company is an absolute gem in Downingtown! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was welcoming, laid-back, and full of energy. The standout of our visit, without a doubt, was Julie—hands down the best server I’ve ever had. She was incredibly friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and had great recommendations that made our experience even better.

We started with the smoked wings, which were perfectly tender with just the right amount of smokiness and char. You can tell they put serious care into how they prepare them. Then came the bacon horseradish burger, and wow—every bite was packed with flavor. The burger was juicy and well-seasoned, the bacon was crispy, and the horseradish added a unique kick that set it apart from your typical pub fare.

The beer selection was solid too—plenty of options for both hop-heads and those who prefer something lighter. Everything tasted fresh and well-crafted.

Whether you’re a local or just passing through, East Branch is definitely worth the stop. Great food, top-notch service (shoutout to Julie again!), and a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to come back.

I love the vibe of this place. Exceptional, hardworking staff and the other customers are nice too. Sometimes I go solo and I always feel welcome and safe (important for a solo woman). Rooftop bar is amazing in the summer. I almost didn’t want to leave a good review because I don’t want people to find out, but more than that, I want this place to be successful. It’s great.

Good beer, terrible food, half hearted service

We went here for the first time yesterday and had a nice time. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the beer selection. We typically go to Victory but we'll be going here more often.
Waves is one of my new favorite beers.
Pictured in the review is the Bricket Noodle. Despite the many warnings they give you that's its very hot/spicy, I still went for it because I enjoy medium to mild spicy.
If you're like me, get something else like they suggest. Great flavor, but it's another level that I wasn't prepared for.
Loved the Fried Goat Cheese Balls. Will be back

Great food, great service. Love the wings and brisket noodles of course. Check out their rooftop, great views of Downingtown!

This is one of our favorite spots. They have really good beer and the food is fantastic. We always get the brisket noodles and yes, they are as hot as the menu indicates they are. Service is always great - we seem to always get Marcie which is a good thing. She's always friendly and on top of things even if it's busy.

Came here last Sunday and sat at the bar . Service as great and even ordered a pretzel . We came back tonight for dinner and the service and food was terrible!!! Never saw the Waitress after we gave her our order. Asked her questions about one of the items I was ordering and she never came back with a response !!! We were served our meal and my husband and I ordered the same thing and it was prepared differently!!! Again No one ever came back to the table!! It was busy but maybe they should hire more wait staff . I felt bad leaving an absolutely shitty tip but maybe they will get the hint . And I told the waitress it was horrible service she apologized and said I will give u a gift certificate. I will never go back or recommend this place !!! Sorry a little too late .i didn’t even eat my meal !!!!
