Hibachi of Downingtown

I hate to give a one star, but I called and the lady who answered the phone didn’t seem to care that our takeout order was AWFUL. We picked it up as soon as it was ready so it was not sitting out for a long time, however the rice tasted like it was made a few days ago (really bad), the chicken was super dry even swimming in too much sauce, my child’s meal came with 90% onions as the veggie (not sure what child prioritizes onions?) and we ordered noodles with chicken and half of the noodles (the ones in the middle - go figure) were cold. It’s certainly not the quality I’ve ever experienced at this restaurant before.

When I called the lady wanted me to go back to the restaurant and have the meal re-cooked. Nice offer but I’m not driving back there tonight. She kept insisting all the food is fresh and the cooks know what they are doing, and sometimes things taste different when they’ve been put in a takeout container. I have a hard time with this since leftovers (that come home in takeout containers) historically have been very good.

What they sent out tonight for takeout seemed like it was cooked some time ago, reheated, and put into to-go containers. It was a very expensive disappointment. Can’t say I’ll be back.

Salad was horrible. Orders wrong. Slow service, one of the grills wasn't working.

Highly recommend if you are gluten free and/or have food allergies that you choose another restaurant. Chef really did not care about multiple orders with food allergies and a gluten free order. Very disappointing since I have been coming here for years. 7 of 9 orders were not correct and they took $80 off a $380 bill. Recommend Chik-Fil-A over the Hibachi if you are making a decision.

Standard hibachi experience, food was very tasty, interior decoration and details were top notch. Clearly a well-cared-for space.

This place is old,the tables have scum accumulated around the edges. The hibachi dining area is very cold and smells old. They attempted to make the main entrance look inviting, but time as taken it's toll.

They do not include clear soup. The sauces were given after the food was cooked. The sauce containers were small. They do not give shrimp appetizer like most hibachi grills do. The rice was a small portion. The vegetable tempura was oily and undercooked vegetables.The cook gave the excess food to someone who did not order hibachi. I was given tea and initially was told they only have artificial sugar. When I questioned it, I was given cane sugar.

Our chef was better than the rest. They rushed in and rushed out.

Bottomline, I would not recommend, nor return.
