“It's top notch as far as Chinese takeout dives. It's cleaner looking than most, the food is what it's supposed to be and cooked how it's supposed to be cooked. If you like Americanized-Chinese takeout quality food, this is the best I've had in the area. These places should be noticeably better than buffet quality. I like that they dont over-do the velveting/marinade process to where the meat is slimey and gamey, as some Chinese operators tend to do.“

“The weird one thing I look for to tell if it’s a legitimate Chinese restaurant is something that reminds the owner(s) of home. There’s a huge lit picture of Hong Kong and Kowloon Harbour (taken from the top of Victoria Point) on their wall. They’re Cantonese, and the quality of the food shows their pride in where they’re from. You’re getting the closest thing to authentic Cantonese this side of the ferry to Mui Wo.“

“This has been my favorite spot for years. The food is the best in NEPA... BUT... New Owners. When we sat down we noticed a few new servers. The fried noodles were extra lite. The Duck sauce was better than it ever has been. I ordered my standard Sweetand sour chicken and the other was Beef and Broccoli. After the first few bits I realized something was a but different. Every part of the meal was better. The chicken was crisp yet the chicken very tender. The Pork Fried rice was simply perfect. The Beef and Broccoli sauce againwas different... it was just better.

“This Chinese restaurant was fantastic! They delivered late—around 10:44 PM—and everything arrived piping hot and fresh. The woman who took my order spoke excellent English and was incredibly kind. They even included free Chinese donuts, which was such a nice surprise. The delivery driver was polite and friendly. The General Tso’s chicken was amazing, and the crab rangoons were the best I’ve had—just remember to ask for sweet and sour sauce if you like that pairing. “You will not find better Chinese food and service in the area. For a while, I enjoyed the buffet. This place was the hookup during college/covid. I can’t tell you how many nights this place has fed me. The price is reasonable, there are so many things to buy outside of the food, and the take out is actually amazing. I recommend the mango shrimp with lo mien instead of white rice. Best Chinese dish I have had. I am welcomed like family and will never forget this place. “This was my second time getting delivery from China King. Delivery is super efficient. But the food is amazing! Portion sizes are huge. You can easily feed 2-3 people from one dish. I believe they make their own dumplings and wontons because they taste amazing and they don’t look like something that came out of a factory. Both the dumplings and wontons are wonderful. The wontons soup is overflowing with wontons. You won’t get just one or two wontons like you do at other places. Their prices are very fair. The food quality is great. The delivery guys are always soooo nice and quick. I live at the farthest end of their delivery parameters. Both times my food came hot and within 30-40 minutes. I highly recommend China King. Over many years, I believe I’ve tried every single Chinese takeout restaurant in the Scranton area and, as a transplanted NY’er, my standards are high and the only Chinese takeout in the Scranton area that comes the closest to Canal St. standards is Eastern Wok. Like many others have told me, the tiniest of holes in the wall always have the best food.

The delivery is excellent, quality food at reasonable prices. As a transplanted NY’er, we love our Chinese food on Friday nights and Eastern Wok absolutely is far above the best of every other Chinese takeout restaurant I’ve tried in over a dozen years. The high quality ingredients, quality meats and fish, vegetables and small details like dishes not being overwhelmed with salt, grease and sugar show that someone cares in the product they are serving and delivering.

Since I’ve discovered this hidden gem, I’ve never once had a bad dish and I appreciate that because it’s a treat for me to enjoy takeout and appreciate the value I get for my money.

Wonderful menu to explore, quality meats, fish, vegetables and not drowned in salty, sugary sauces.
