“Found this little gem when my husband was working in the area. I picked it based on the reviews and so glad I did. The place was hopping with customers and the bartenders did a fantastic job of keeping the drinks full. The owner helped us find a seat as soon as we walked in and the service from that point on was incredible! The young female bartender reminded me of myself in the “old days”. She had lots of energy to match the atmosphere and was speedy with your next beverage, served with a big smile. We each got wings and shared the garbage fries, which was all delicious!! Big crispy wings with crispy celery to match and they were not skimpy on the Bleu Cheese either.Hopefully our travels take us back this way because I’d love to visit again!!“

Normandie Bar & Grill Bar • $
1225 Capouse Ave, Scranton - 6.54 miles

“For decades the Normandie has been the choice destination for locals looking to drown their sorrows AND yuppies looking for a great spot to meet up to start and/or end their night of debauchery. As we all know, very few bars can pull this off successfully but the Normandie has been doing it for decades. How have they pulled this off? Without giving away too many of their secrets, I can tell you that a lot of their appeal has to do with friendly bartenders, 9,000 Bruce Springsteen songs in the jukebox, affordable Genesee beers, and the mysterious "Hot Bologna" in the jar for $0.25. It's a Giants bar, but also sometimes Villanova (look for the bandwagon parked out front), sometimes Notre Dame, and always Yankees (but also seems to fondly remember the days of the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Red Barons). Does Hillary Clinton visit the Norm when she's in town? No, it's not her type of place. You'd be way more likely to find hometown favorite Joe Biden doing Jager bombs and playing pool. In all seriousness, this place is great. Bottom Line: The Normandie is not in the beer business serving people. They are in the people business serving beer.“
