We have an excellent lunch. My daughter and I had the mini tenderloin sandwiches with fries. The tenderloin was cooked to perfection. My wife had roasted chicken and hers was prepared perfectly too. I also added the lobster bisque. It had small pieces of lobster and was the best bisque that I have ever had. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is very relaxing and I would not hesitate to come back here the next time we are in DC.

Visiting from United Kingdom and had booked in advance based on reviews. We were certainly not disappointed. On arrival were greeted warmly and they had decorated table as it was my birthday. The host explained the specialties and advised on wine selection. The food was excellent and they did half portions on the sides as explained they were large portions. Presented me with special celebration dessert. Also the weather was atrocious so we requested a taxi. The host escorted us out to the taxi to ensure we found it. Would highly recommend.

When we make a trip to DC, we try to block out a slot to dine at the 25+ year old Capital Grille either for lunch or for dinner. Yes, it is on the pricey side, but you will not leave disappointed. Upon entering during a very warm day, the hostesses offered to get us a taxi for the return trip. So nice and they did make the call and set up the driver...thank you so much! The service was prompt with appropriate check-ins. Specifically, the lobster soup is excellent with lots of lobster. Our entrées spotlighted filet either on salad or in a sandwich. The meat, as always, was perfect. The establishment is very clean. The restrooms could us a facelift for wear, but otherwise - a DC standard in excellence.

Great service. J*** chicken was good. Cabbage was vinegary. Had to ask for sauce on rice, which was delicious! West Indian food only served on Thursdays, though! Thank goodness I showed up on a Thursday!

Excellent as normal. This is the 3rd time dining here and its top notch each time. If there was one thing I could be critical of… its the Clam chowder… its a little rich on the heavy cream compared to others I have had.

Excellent all the way around. Staff, food, ambiance… worth every penny. Ordered the salmon, hubby had filet Oscar. So yummy! And the bread service is always top notch! Always an A+ choice no matter the location!

We stopped here for lunch on our last day in D.C. after touring the botanic gardens and didn’t realize that it was a fine dining establishment. We met the dress code requirement, but next time we will know to dress up. Front of house staff and servers were extremely gracious and polite. Our lunch was wonderful, we all tried the lobster bisque which was rich and creamy. Many of us enjoyed seafood dishes that were phenomenal. Tried the espresso cake and crème brûlée for dessert, we would highly recommend both. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My wife is the trip planner of the family. She does everything and it results in amazing trips for myself, 11 and 7 year old daughters. After a long day of walking around DC and visiting museums, she asked me to please pick a place for dinner. I do a quick search on Apple Maps and find the Capital Grille, which I admit I had never heard of, and saw that it was only a short walk from the Mall. I did a quick Trip Advisor check, where someone had checked off "Great for Kids", made an online reservation for 6:00 pm, and we walked right in on time. We had been sight-seeing all day, so I had on my ball cap, the kids had on Washington DC shirts (one with a slight ketchup stain), and my wife looked beautiful as always. I immediately notice white table cloths, patrons in formal dress and realize that I had taken us to a fine-dining establishment. We were completely underdressed and out of place. I check the dress code which is placed in the entrance and realize that our dress did technically suffice but I was still seriously considering bolting. We offered an apology to the hostess explaining that we booked on the fly and didn't realize it was fine-dining and how underdressed we'd be. The hostess was extremely warm to us and seated us immediately. When our waiter arrived, I made another quick apology and he also was extremely polite and made a very welcoming and friendly comment. So, to whoever clicked "Great for Kids", you got me! Overall, it was a humorous experience for my wife and I and it was a great introduction to fine-dining for our girls. We just had to explain that next time, we need to dress up a little bit more! I would like to say how thankful my wife and I were at how understanding the staff at Capital Grille were. I am sure we weren't the first travel-worn family to fall in after a day on the Mall but we appreciated their attitude nonetheless. As for the food, it was absolutely amazing. My wife's filet and my NY strip were both cooked to absolute perfection. We ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese, Soy Glazed Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and Mashed Potatoes for the table. Our kids loved the sides, even the Soy Glazed Brussel Sprouts! The service was just as you would expect for a restaurant of this caliber. The waiter was extremely attentive without being intrusive, which can be a difficult balance to strike. It does appear they have a lunch menu so I am assuming that the Capital Grille may be a tad bit less formal for lunch, but this is clearly a fine-dining restaurant for dinner.

Fine dining as a special treat on our first night in DC and was not disappointed. Service was attentive and quick. We started with the Lump Crab appetizer, It was flavorful and adequate as an appetizer for us. Spouse ordered the Steak Au Poivre with a side of wild roasted mushrooms for his main course. I ordered the Sea bass with shitake mushroom, asparagus in miso sauce. We were both so delighted with our choices as they were both flavorful, cooked to perfection. Drinks weregood as well and the fresh berries on top a treat! Would highly recommend!

Fabulous meal and service our first night in DC. Hard to top the remaining four days we were in town.

Our family came in for an early dinner one day after touring the Capitol building and we were so glad we did. My very picky son said the chicken tenders he had were the best he’s ever ate, which is high praise from him. The rest of us agreed, definitely my favorite meal of our trip and one of the best steaks I’ve had in a long time. Our server was Joey and he was knowledgeable of the options with my gluten allergy and he was also just a great guy! So glad we stumbled upon this restaurant, would highly recommend to anyone and if we return to the area this will definitely be our go to for dinner! Thanks so much for a great meal and service!
