Went to OD’s for the first time a couple of weeks ago with my family and we were given a warm welcome by OD and his staff. We were offered various desserts and samples of his food such as candy yams, Mac & cheese, collard greens and more prior to ordering our food. While waiting on our food, he gave us the history of his business along with his family’s and was a delight to talk with. I had the catfish (big size for a great pride), fries and candy yams. Everything was phenomenal and we will be sure to come back!
Went there for the first time today and it was an amazing experience. You can definitely tell that the owner really has a passion for what he does and really puts love into making his food. He let me try samples of his side dishes and even gave me a break down of what different stuff was, how the fish meat looks like, and how everything is prepared. I live all the way in Hanover and I can honestly say he has a customer for life and I’ll definitely be spreading the word about this place! Thank you so much for the experience you gave me!! :)

I honestly, appreciate everything from this restaurant. The food, the service, & atmosphere. We haven’t had no where better in Harrisburg Pa. in years. This is my 3rd time eating their food. Last night I had whitening with bone, bake Mac, with greens & cabbage. You will not find a better soul food place then here that will hit the soul & taste buds. (Honest & brutal truth) The service was top tier. I got there at 8:57pm they close at 9pm, they had no problem & was happy with servicing me & my child & allowing us time to eat in & tastes other items. (Even though it was for takeout.) They did great in every area when it comes to servicing food. Oh yeah, did I tell y’all the food tasted scrumptious. Seriously & honestly, it’s a must.Thank You...Kid-friendliness: They were so polite & friendly to my daughter.

Experience was great and so was the food! Arrived 7 minutes before closing time but wasn’t turned away, instead food was dropped fresh soon as we ordered. The owner even stayed 40 minutes past closing time, just to accommodate me and my mother’s food order. Definitely the best soul food restaurant in Harrisburg, and their attitudes were so positive even though it was 9pm. For reference I ordered 4 pieces of fried chicken, collard greens and cabbage mix, yams, baked macaroni, and a strawberry cheesecake aswell as a strawberry flavored lemonade that they have on hand. My mom ordered the fried withering fish, baked macaroni, and the collard green and cabbage mix. We both really enjoyed our food and gave everything 5 stars, and they are very generous with their portions and not stingey! 10/10 experience definitely worth the visit.

Nah for real though. This spot is single-handedly worth a trip to Harrisburg. It smells right from the outside as soon as you pull up. Then you walk in and get greeted like family. I was just going to get a fish plate to go, ended up sitting around for an hour eating shooting the breeze. They're friendly, good people and CLEARLY take pride in what they do. They gave me some shrimp and some sides to try...they don't miss . I had my heart set on fish though, so I ended up going with the $14 catfish. Now you can choose from I believe a $12-$20 piece depending on how hungry you are/who all you with. Let me start by saying the fish is perfect, the batter is crispy but light, its seasoned right, tender and a great value for the size you get...and critically, you can tell that oil is RIGHT. The greens will have you sopping up that potlikker with your bread. Mac and cheese, rich, cheesy, with that crispy cheese on top...bussin. Now that seafood Salad, you NEED that in your life, she (sorry didn't catch her name) put her foot in that: big pieces of shrimp, real crab, and that seasoning. Finished the drill with some banana pudding and my eyes were already heavy. I should have got a piece of pie and a slice of that cheesecake, red velvet or lemon cake to go, but next time I'll get right. If you're in the area, it gives you every reason to go, if not it's worth a detour. OD's is THAT spot.
