The restaurant is a bit off the beaten past. It’s definitely a neighborhood favorite. The food is tasty, just the right amount of spices. The beef in the beef stew was of good quality. The fried plantains were very good and the different rices were a welcome surprise. The young woman behind the counter could not have been nicer. She was upbeat and truly eager to help. She took the time to explain each of the dishes to us. I was glad to see both of the women behind the counter had their hair back and covered. The other diners appeared to be regulars, who were all genuinely happy to see each other. There is a real feeling of community. They all tried to make us feel welcome. If you find yourself in Hazleton, by all means go. If you live in Hazleton, go, or order delivery.

My fiance is newly in love with the shrimp salad, and had me on a hunt for it yesterday. I put la cueva in my waze maps and got there, walked in and told them I have no idea what I'm looking for is called, but explained it to them, and they were swiftly able to point me int the right direction! Prices were great, my first time trying this salad (or restaurant at all) and it was delicious! I will definitely order again, and try more from the menu! They have a full service buffet style setup, accommodating walk-ins, carry outs, call ahead and sit downs. Parking was street parking, but plenty of it was available when I arrived!Kid-friendliness: Big open space, plenty of choices that I'm sure children would enjoy!Parking: The building across the street is empty I believe, and la cueva is on a corner so there are plenty of nearby street spots

Don't eat the food they make there. I had food poisoning from la Cueva. I'll tell this much I don't ever want to put my body through something like that ever again. Anywhere else would be better than there.

Great service and Caribbean type cuisine. Bilingual service. A lot of home cooked food for the cost. Give them a try.
