“I was nearby visiting my wife in the hospital, and I remember seeing some young man wearing a Chicanos t-shirt near my house which is about 1.5 hours away.
So I decided to go by and get a couple of items to go and eat them when I got home.
By the time I got home it was really late, but I decided to taste everything anyway and it was absolutely fantastic!
Much better tasting than I was expecting and they were very generous with everything and their portions.
I got the pork posole, which came with a couple of bean tostadas! To my excitement and surprise! And the Posole?
Was both chicken and pork cooked into the stew, but here you have to choose whether you want to have pork or chicken. So this is something I was not used to and I thought I was going to be disappointed.
Having chosen pork, when I rewarmed it the next morning I was unbelievably surprised at how fantastic this was, easily some of the best posole I've had in a decade!
A carne asada burrito, which came with chips and salsa.
And I remember thinking to myself when I picked up the burritos oh my gosh this thing is really a big burrito! I haven't seen a real size burrito since I left the West Coast in 2010! ? The taste was absolutely fantastic and it even had grilled jalapenos in it which just kicked the flavor up another notch!
Not to be not to sound arrogant, but this Salsa was so good, it was like if I made it myself, super fresh! ?
I have to say my favorite thing was the chorizo tacos!
Anyone that grew up with real Mexican chorizo and knows what they're exactly it's supposed to taste like and these tacos absolutely did!!

“Phenomenal food, atmosphere & people! This place is a gem & worth the drive no matter where you're from! I took my husband for his birthday.

He had veal parmigiana w linguine & salad. I had pappardelle bolognese w italian wedding soup. The bread was warm w oil for dipping & the entrees served hot as they should be. (it was obvious that nothing was sitting waiting to come out of the kitchen)

The waitstaff are super friendly & attentive and the cocktails- a bloody mary & tiramisu martini were excellent!

Dessert was brownie ala mode w a candle & song for hubs, and tiramisu for me.

“A nice little place that has been in the downtown for close to 20 years. You enter through the bar that is roomy while also having hightop tables. When entering main dining, the first thing we noticed was the piano player, which is a super-cool touch! He played some fun songs, including some of his own, cracked jokes, and also interacted with the crowd while not being intrusive at all. My wife and I each got a martini (Dirty Gin for her and Honey Nut Cheerio for me) and both were delicious. As an appetizer, we got Eggplant Melanzane, which was light, had great flavor, and a delicious vodka sauce. My better half had a Caesar salad with probably the best Caesar dressing we have ever had. I went with the gorgonzola salad that had a nice, tart raspberry vinaigrette. For our entrees, she had the chicken special, which featured thin chicken breast and portobello mushrooms in a port wine sauce, topped with gorgonzola. It was very earthy and deep, a worthy special. I had the Pollo Sambuca, which is the same thin chicken breast with shrimp and mushrooms in a creamy sambuca sauce. It was very flavorful and slightly sweet. The anise is there, but not distracting. This was a solid meal! Our server, Thellenza, was attentive and informative. She made sure we understood all of the specials and took care of anything we asked. The rest of the staff is also helpful, too, and we were never in need of anything for long at all. “Back on 2012 I would to go to John’s every Monday night for All you can eat pasta with my late husband and 4-6 other family members dept who was at our house or available. Going there wasn’t the same without him and they were so kind as to send a tray of pasta and a tray of meatballs at that terrible time but I went sporadically. Well today Nov13 2024 my new husbands and I were in the area and went to John’s. It was nice to be there and the food was sooooo good like it was back then and the service was as it always was Great! I was so glad we went. there were a lot of new faces. But I did ask for Michelle and heard she is there yet. Keep it up John’s. Impressive service by our bartender, watching her multitask a busy Friday night. Other support staff worked like a well oiled machine, bringing food orders from the back kitchen, taking orders, prepping tables…so service could be executed smoothly.
**** Trax Classic, loaded grilled burger done just as ordered with their thick and crispy house-made chips. Don’t bother counting calories.
***** Station Signature Misto salad was enjoyed by my husband.
Coming from out of town the prices were reasonable. Portions were filling and the indoor atmosphere was cozy with dark woods, a beautiful chandelier and reminders of a by gone era in this historic hotel. There are large screen TVs scattered throughout the dining area for the sports fans to enjoy. History buffs would enjoy seeing old photos showing how this huge train depot was utilized for passengers and cargo.
They can prepare your meal to go, we were staying at the hotel and ordered by a direct call line to their staff and the bill could be charged to your room or paid up front.
I saw a mix of both locals and visitors having a moment to enjoy their meals. Parking is easy, they keep late night hours too. We enjoyed our meals so much, we had it again before we left to travel home.“
