From Wow to Disappointment
* was guest of longtime Longwood members
* had great expectations…
+ 1st, Atmosphere & food service were terrific!
++ Plus wine sommelier Nick: Outstanding!!
- BUT -
- Menu is Limited, confusing, and rigid
- Food was not cooked to order, just “ok”
- Meal was overpriced (portions, quality)
Net-net, our hosts & dear friends were embarrassed by the experience (kept apologizing, which unfortunately made us all even more disappointed). Thankfully, the overall Longwood Gardens were Incredible - just Please do what it takes to make 1906 once again up to par…!

The newly reopened 1906 is absolutely beautiful. We had fancy drinks and apps. Service was great and the decor was so comfy and beautiful.
We had the mushroom soup which was delicious and the lobster beignets ($22), also super yummy. Drinks were very tasty though the giant ice cube took up most of the cup. The view was gorgeous. Would definitely eat here again.

The new location is lovely; the food is the same high quality food as always! We really enjoyed the Bisque and Beet Salad appetizers as well as the amazing Crab Cakes and Halibut main courses. The Sazarac cocktails were spot on. Our server, Ashley, who did a great job, was professional, and friendly.

I recently dined at 1906 Restaurant at Longwood Gardens, and it was nothing short of unbelievable! From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel so welcome and taken care of, enhancing the entire experience. The food was simply exquisite, with each dish presenting unique flavors and impeccable presentation. The ambiance perfectly complemented the beautiful surroundings of Longwood Gardens, creating a dining experience that felt magical. Honestly, it might be the best dining experience I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to go back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an unforgettable meal in an extraordinary setting!
Parking: I wish that there was parking closer to the restaurant or a shuttle service as we had to park at the entrance of the gardens and it was not an easy walk when you're in heels.

I would highly recommend the revamped 1906 at Longwood. The food is excellent. The architecture is absolutely stunning. They have a surprisingly good kids menu including a sparkling Shirley Temple. While pricey, would recommend for special occasions and date nights.

We ate here for lunch today. Omg! It was delicious from entree to dessert. A little bit pricey, but the quality of our food made the price worth it. You , also, have to try the Chocolate Flowerpot and Almond Semolina cake. Yummy !

A bit of a wait if you don’t make a reservation, but the service was great, and the food was unforgettable.
They were able to easily make accommodations for my seafood and allergies.

Summer menu 2024: Basil Sorbet Appetizer- loved it! Will order the appetizer basil sorbet again as soon as I can get back to Longwood! Small portion but really loved the flavor topped with a bit of Kosher salt. I ordered vegetables as my meal. I tried the squash appetizer with ricotta blossoms and Romesco (tomato and red pepper sauce). For me, the seemingly flash blanched squash was underwhelming. I like squash sauteed crisp tender. This squash was too raw tasting and flavorless, although the romesco helped. Also had the kale Caesar salad, lots of flavor here. Although i have a good appetite, I would only order it if I was sharing due to strongly flavored salty richness of the dressing. Waitress was great at answering questions and attentive.
Dietary restrictions: When making reservations, let them know about any restrictions. Our waitress was knowledgeable how to navigate the menu for GF and vegetarian
