UPDATE - They have changed the cheesesteak roll supplier and it makes a big difference so I upgraded to 4 stars! (Previous) Sad to say that after decades of great food that the cheesesteak has recently taken a downturn, most likely due to the new rolls being used.
Called in to order the hot roast pork sandwich. When I arrived things seemed different. I didn't recognize any of the crew behind the counter. Then I found out that it was under new ownership. I had been a customer at Pudges for over 40 years from the time when it was owned by the Carbone family in Blue Bell. I must say that the new owners did not disappoint. This was the best hot roast pork sandwich i have had in years. It was the old style sliced pork not the pulled pork...
Best cheese steak. Consistent, top quality ingredients and plenty of. This is the way Philly rose to prominence as, in my opinion, the cheese steak capital of the world. Many have tried, few have, I’ll say it again the consistency and quality as Pudges.
I took one star away on the atmosphere, only reason, if you’re looking for a restaurant atmosphere, this isn’t, this is all about cheese steaks.
