We have been coming to Umai for years. I have nothing to say but excellent things. The sushi is absolutely top notch. Chef Rae is an absolute master. The atmosphere and ambiance is always calm and welcoming. This is by far our favorite restaurant. I give my highest recommendation. You will not be disappointed.
Called in a takeout order. Ordered a Kani salad, white tuna, salmon, and tuna sashimi. The Kani salad is was not a the typical…. Spring mix and some imitation crab….. barely any…. Not the typical imitation crab and cucumber and spicy mayo mix…. And not worth the 8 bucks. Sashimi was good, tuna was marked MP, which I thought would be 12 dollars since the salmon and white tuna were both $9…. 16 for two pieces…. Fried bananas as a complement…. But not a traditional...
Some of the best sushi that I have eaten. Sat at the bar and chatted with the owner. He explained the freshness of the fish and where it came from. They specialize in adding heat to some of their rolls. Excellent thought and very ingenious. Great presentation for the two rolls I ordered and the wasabi was equally as good. It is a BYOB restaurant. There is a wine and spirits store close by - Fine Wine and Good Spirits, which also carries saki. Would definitely return next...
