Food is always good. Parking is tricky, depending on time you go. Sorry to see this place will be closing. Hopefully they will find a new location and continue their good food and friendly people.

Classic American breakfast, they only open fo breakfast and brunch hour. I was pretty surprised that they have avocado omelette! Food and service were both decent, better than the chain breakfast spots.

Housed in an aging free standing building for the past 20 years, City Restaurant is named for The Big Apple, although it looks far more like the roadside diner it really is. But, don't let appearances fool you, the kitchen turns out very good morning and afternoon repasts, well worth your investigation. My Irish Benedict (poached eggs on top of corned beef hash and toasted english muffin with hollandaise over the top) was very good and hardily filing. I'm not a Benedict kind of guy most of the time, but this could help turn me into one. Everything melded together well, and I enjoyed slicing through the textured layers and tasting each one in turn. Would certainly do it again. Service from Beth was colloquial and down East charming. She'd been there from almost the beginning and seemed to know everyone; greeting each with a quip or piece of local wisdom. Entertaining. Prices had just been raised across the board to account for the supply chain issues associated with food provisions recently. It was still affordable, but certainly noticeable that the costs were being past along to customers by necessity. Hopefully, places like City Restaurant will survive and ultimately thrive in the years to come. It is an institution worthy of its place in local lore.

Great local spot for breakfast. (Never tried it for lunch). Good coffee. Huge breakfast menu. It’s breakfast not fine dinning. Kids loved the crepes Normandy. Yes, it is a bit loud but that just adds to the charm.

I had never been there before last Saturday, and it was great. Now it's open for breakfast and lunch, but it was still definitely a good meal and great service. From the fast, and courteous and attentive service, my lunch was excellent. I ordered a really good club sandwich, it came with fries, coleslaw, and a delicious cup of chicken orzo soup. Even the Ice tea was great. It was clean and cozy, the small size of it makes it that way, but take it from me, please don't let that stop you from checking them out for a delicious meal. Can't wait to go back.

excellent breakfast. The meal featured a decent selection, and breakfast was available all day. I enjoyed my veggie omlet very much. The bacon was perfectly done. The eatery was immaculately clean. The staff was extremely helpful and considerate of our needs without hovering over us. They always knew when to lend a hand. I'll definitely buy from you again.

This is a hole in the wall breakfast restaurant with a regular clientele. We ate here on a Friday morning and liked it so well, we came back on Sunday. The food is good, the staff is friendly, and the prices are reasonable. My husband had the meat omelette the first time and a western the second, along with a side of scrapple. My first trip I had the Italian (sausage, onions, peppers and marinara), the second I had the city omelette, which is cheesesteak meat, fried onions, And American cheese. All were good but the city omelette was a real treat. All omelettes were served with toast and potatoes but you could substitute tomato or a fruit cup for the potatoes at no extra charge. Total bill before tip was $28.59, for two.

The coffee was good, the food was excellent, and the service was stellar. I barely had time to get myself settled to wait after they took my order before it was just THERE, full-panoplied as if from the brow of Zeus. It took longer to decide what I wanted than for them to cook, plate, and serve it.Good place, will go back!

We usually come here as a family for a quick breakfast and have always had a good experience. The last visit was a disaster. We went to an early breakfast on Mother’s Day since the kids wanted to take myself and my mom out. I let my kids order what they want. My 7 y/o son ordered the triple chocolate Belgian waffle. The description was Belgian waffle topped with chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, and chocolate drizzle. He was very excited to eat it. 2 bites in, he started saying that his throat doesn’t feel right like he has more mucus. I didn’t pay much attention to it as allergies are bad these days. He proceeded to say that now his tongue feels funny and kept trying to wipe his tongue with a tissue. We called our sever over and asked if there are any peanut or nut ingredients in the waffle that was not mentioned on the menu. She said she will ask. She comes back and whispered to me that the ice cream they used was peanut butter chocolate. I immediately ran out the restaurant with my son to attempt to give him his epipen or Benadryl. The rest of our party stayed and when my niece questioned the server, she stated that she was just told that there is a shortage in chocolate ice cream so they substituted with peanut butter chocolate. No one at any point asked us if the substitution was ok and just served it. It was not written on the menu that they may substitute with a peanut product. This was very negligent. I have made a few attempts to contact the restaurant after the incident to maybe let them know that this could have been much worse and teach them so it does not occur but I have not been able to speak to anyone. This was a very disappointing experience. The photo below was taken before the reaction and as stated previously, we enjoy coming here but we are now afraid.

New to the area, so I gave it a second chance after my initial experience was not good. The second time was just as bad. There are numerous issues with this diner. First of all it's very loud, everyone from the staff to the patrons seems to be yelling at one another. I guess that's because it's the only way that you can hear what someone is saying above the overall noise of the place. You definitely don't want to come here if you would like to have a pleasant chat over breakfast.Secondly, the food is quite unremarkable, and in our case, all of it was cool rather than hot. You know when you spread whipped butter on pancakes and toast, and it does not melt, that your food is not hot. Moreover, the pancakes were like rubber and the home fries were essentially uneatable and greasy. We will certainly never return to this restaurant and strongly recommend you follow our lead. There are plenty of other diners in the area that will provide a much better experience.
