Amtrak Metropolitan Lounge is located on the upper mezzanine, of the east side of the 30th. Street Station in downtown Philly.I do not like that there is no practical elevator access to the lounge. There is an elevator, but you must find someone to authorize the elevator to go up to the lounge and I have never been able to find that person during the many times I have visited this lounge. You must ring the buzzer to get access from the Amtrak concierge inside. I have never had any issues with that in the past. The concierge greets you with a friendly smile. They have always been helpful at this location. They scan your ticket and write down your train so they can be sure they call you when your train is boarding. The lounge has a nice area for small snacks. They have a large selection of cold beverages in a neatly arranged, glass door refrigerator. behind the snacks. Next to the beverage refrigerator there is a nice coffee station with a variety of different coffee preparations. Unfortunately, this location does not have alcohol for purchase like they do at the Acela Lounge at Moynihan Station in NYC.There is a generous amount of seating and many different seating options, all very comfortable. If you prefer to work, there are desks with plugs nearby to power your devices. There is a TV at the west end of the club and monitors all over showing train times so you can quickly determine the status of your train. The bathrooms are very clean and bright and are also located at the very end of the club (the west end). What I love most about this particular Amtrak lounge is the availability of direct elevator access to your train platform. Because the lounge spans across all the tracks you can take the appropriate elevator right to your train without having to exit the lounge and get in the general line. This is such a nice feature. The Concierge announces each train and gathers the passengers into the correct elevator, gives a nice thank you for visiting, before sending the car down to the track. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH!This is not my favorite Amtrak lounge (NYC is my fave) but this is by far my second favorite Amtrak lounge in the system that I've visited and for that reason I am going to give this lounge a 5 star review.

The Amtrak staff were amazing polite friendly and helpful throughout. The station is one of those grand old stations that is being renovated further. Only having a Dunkin' Donuts in the building was disappointing, but the staff pointed me to a deli only one block away for an excellent hoagie. The lounge itself was a bit dreary and could use updating, but once again, the staff made up for that. There were active power outlets, and it was very comfortable to watch videos for the couple hours before my train left.

Quiet good place to rest. Mostly packaged snacks. No liquor. Otherwise, LOVE the direct access to the platform. Very well thought out layout.

It was nice to just have privacy and a more peaceful environment. They forgot about me the last time I was there and I missed the train so I'm always super paranoid. Was en route to Washington DC on

Standard lounge offering for Amtrak with a nice high view of the interior of the station. Friendly service with direct elevator access to the platform.

We came early before our overnight train to New Orleans. Though we didn’t see signs for the lounge inside the main hall, we were directed to the “Red Cap” people which did have a big sign on one pillar. They lead you to an elevator for access to the lounge and instructed us to check in when we entered. We showed our sleeper car ticket and were told that someone would come get us 15 minutes before departure. The first thing we noticed in the lounge was the excessive heat, but otherwise it was pleasant. The lounge covers a long hall with several seating areas, tables, and counters looking out over the station. A couple desks with printing and computers were set up for business activities. Bathrooms with two stalls were available. The Metropolitan Lounge has a refreshments station with packaged snacks like beef jerky, chips, fruit bars, pretzels, nuts, and Kind bars. (I read that there would be Tasty Cakes but not this time.) There were refrigerated mini water bottles, La Croix, and soda as well as a coffee machine with hot chocolate and tea options. There is a mini “conference room” for 6-8 people with windows separating it from the rest of the lounge space. However, there’s no ceiling on the conference room so sound carries in and out.On Friday afternoon, the lounge was fairly quiet with just a handful of people until it got closer to our Crescent train arrival. Train departure announcements were made on an intercom and displayed on a screen. We made the mistake of leaving as soon as we heard our train announcement. Other passengers waited for the Red Cap person and were escorted down the elevator directly onto our train platform.P.S. To see our detailed review and video tour of the Amtrak lounge as well as our roomette from Philadelphia to New Orleans, do a web search for "Intentional Travelers Amtrak" to find our blog post.

A great place to go to if you need to catch a commuter rail or transit. It's very safe. There's always law enforcement that's around for the most part. You think that it would be sketchy but it's not at all. There is a lot of activities going on outside of the Amtrak station like the front porch and the Schuylkill River transit center by SEPTA. There happens to be plenty of artwork and very interesting at that to check out while you're inside or waiting for your commute to departure from the station. There's a very calming atmosphere that's inside the Amtrak station in this particular one at that, if I have to catch a Amtrak or SEPTA either two or from downtown Philly this is my go-to option. It's easy to connect to other transportation, commuter rails, and options from this particular location, and I can tell that it's an important landmark to the city as well. After giving it a visit and experience for it yourself, you'll most likely agree.Parking: There is parking lots and spaces available. Mostly pay parking. If you're waiting for a pickup, say a friend to pick you up or Uber or Lyft option. Maybe curb option for ride share. There is a option where they can pull up and wait for you but it can't be a long amount of time. With that said, you have to remember that this is in a part of Philly that has a lot of development going on and a lot of construction currently either going in phase or near completion. But there is parking available. You have just have to look around. Maybe pull up a Google or Apple maps for either information ℹ️.

This is a waiting area for Amtrak customers who meet eligibility, in our case we were traveling in a roomette. They have complimentary soft drinks and snacks and a comfortable place to sit. The attendant puts you on an elevator for priority boarding.
