Their food has been excellent!! They seem to be challenged with keeping quality, dependable chefs... That has hurt them unfortunately. 2, 4, 6 week chefs, just wondering whether they're valuing them or noting customer responses, not all will share a review. By-the-way I too have had the can tasting spinach & Mac & Cheese with the forgotten cream, butter, & cheese But I've had the same items Great!! My review is not a 5 haven't given up!! Some days will be better than others...

Got their stewed chicken with rice and spinach.

Their chicken was pretty good but I got a lot of bones.

The rice is mostly tasteless with the mouth feel of styrofoam. Tasted like it was not seasoned at all but was oddly spicy.

Spinach tasted like it came out of a can.

The service was great. The server is polite attentive and answers any questions you may have about the menu.
I had a curry chicken with rice and spinach, doubles, and a dal puri roti. The chicken was lacking in curry and flavor, the spinach was quite salty, and the rice tasted more jamaican than trini. The doubles were good, but the channa needed to be cooked down longer and needed that thicker sauce/gravy, yah know? The dal puri roti went in the trash. It had a foul taste to it. I could compare it to the taste of burnt fish with old bread. I will not be returning to this location. I also wanted aloo pie but they only sell it in the morning.
I come from Queens, NY where the roti shops are plentiful. My taste buds for trini cuisine are tainted by the amazing quality you get from the roti shops in Queens. So, I have a standard of what trini food should taste like. The hunt continues for a spot in Philly to satisfy my craving for trini food. But I recommend you try it for yourself and be your own judge.

Overall the food is tasty. I have had their Chicken Curry, Stewed Chicken, Rice and Peas, String Beans, Mac n Cheese. Definitely more of a "hole in the wall spot." The space is dark, quiet and not particularly welcoming, but you can order food and you can tell they can cook. It is defintiely better than other spots in the city. Id recommend folks get it "To Go." They have Caribbean drinks to buy too.
