We have often dined at Stir. In its early days the ambience and service was lovely. Over the years its value in terms of quality and meal satisfaction has declined. It used to feel like gracious dining. Lately it feels like a pretentious menu with high prices and all the niceties eliminated.
We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here, with all dishes carefully and well prepared. The scallop ceviche was excellent, and we loved the pasta with ox tail (nicely done al dente) and the fried stuffed quail. A good dessert was the pear Tarte Tatin. From the small list of available wines, we chose a Joel Gott Cabernet Sauvignon, way overpriced (as wines generally are in PA restaurants). The reception was a bit frosty (we came way too early and even though the tables in the dining room remained empty, we were ordered to wait a half hour). A very good eating experience inside one of the great museums of the world.
Food was great but service was not. Hostess was pretty rude. Waitperson was very pleasant, but food took forever. Very expensive.
The menu online was completely different than what we were given yesterday. Two of us ordered the quiche and one ordered the hamburger. Our " quiches" were served hot and had no flavor. The hamburger also wasn't good. Best part of the whole meal was the gelato. Our server was really nice and personable. We were really looking forward to coming to Stir again but we were terribly disappointed. We won't be coming back.
atrocious menu. Facility much below prior restaurant choices and not compatable with other major museums
Arrived at 12:30 for lunch, sold out of 2 items that we would have ordered, left and went to cafeteria instead. Not much better but a little more variety. The PMA should change vendors for Stir, it's sole and important restaurant. Refer to the Barnes Foundatiin for great food, location and service. The PMA should NOT continue Stir as it currently is contracted! NO Stars! Always extremely disappointed!
Overpriced for such an average meal. The tomato salad was lackluster - no punch, no flavor. The cod was above average so that was good. The dessert - carrot cake - turned out to be carrot loaf, dense and flavorless. This level of price point should come with the appropriate level of professional service - it was eh. I've been to Stir a few times in the past, but this time cemented my decision to not go back again.
I like dining at art museum, restaurants so I have alot of experience in them. Although the atmosphere is nice, the service was just OK. There was no recognition of a birthday celebration. They were out of two important items. The food was pretty good with the burgers as the standout item, the french fries were way too salty and the salad had way too much dressing.
Excellent and attractive plate. Light but sophisticated flavors. Added to a very enjoyable outing.
Lovely space, excellent food. A real treat to have such a wonderful dining experience in the museum!

A great spot to grab lunch and relax between looking at an amazing collection of all types of art.
A lovely, leisurely lunch with friends after seeing the Boom! exhibit. Out server was excellent and it gave four longtime friends time to visit over delicious food.
We asked the hostess for a booth and got it. Our server was very professional, and brought water quickly. She didn't hurry us to order. When we decided on tuna tartar and a smash burger (with a glass of okay white wine and another of beer), she was there to take our order and bring the drinks. While the room was a bit more noisy than we like, it was okay: we could hear one another talk. We both enjoyed our lunch.
A tale of two meals - my wife was quite satisfied with the tuna curd and grain salad, while I was disappointed with the tepid soup (both flavor and temperature) and (burned) quiche. We have eaten there several times since it opened and are seeing a steady decline in the room's upkeep and tired approach to food service. The nearby cafeteria will be our likely in-museum option for future visits as its food i fresher and more imaginative.
This was our second visit and we were sadly disappointed. The menu was not as appealing and the overall feel was incoherent. The only food standout was the asparagus appetizer; the lemon pasta was bland and over cooked; burger and fish ok but nothing special. What tanked the lunch however was the truly careless, bordering on rude, service. The host was cold and stiff, and the wait staff consistently made mistakes w no apology. I don't think the wait staff meant to be inept, to give them the benefit of the doubt perhaps they just were never trained. Overall tho, Stir spoiled what we hoped would be a lovely birthday lunch. I do not recommend and will not return.
