I Do NOT recommend. The food was horrible. No taste at all. The mofongo was hard as hell. The service was bad as hell also. They gave us someone else’s order. They give you bottle water so you have to pay for it & the topping on the cake was their ATM was down, their card scanner wasn’t working and they wanted us to Zelle the money to a cleaning service. All around bad service We will never return to @elmesonphilly

Horrible horrible service!!! I waited 30 minutes for my food. The woman servicing me rolls her eyes at me because I asked her how much longer. The service was so bad that I’m afraid to eat the food. If the customer service is shity what’s happening in the kitchen.

We went here for a birthday with a party of 8 and we were greeted promptly, however, the crowd is full of sports drunk sports fans and very loud, The tables are gross, and the overall inside is treated like a bar. The sounds from the TV are extremely loud way louder than what you would expect from outside. They sat our large group of 8 right in front of the bar and I think it was a bad choice for seating. I had to plug my ears and yell at my group just for them to hear me and I had to text back and forth with people 2-3 people away from me. Food was very subpar. The outside looks better than inside. The ambiance comes from the lighting. Overall I would never come back here. We did not realize we were coming to a sports bar.

What a brutal place it’s amazing the decoration looks like a beautiful Mexican restaurant, please don’t get me wrong but Mexican restaurants are usually the ones that make a difference when they build their own restaurant, but EL MESON IS AN AMAZING BUILDING. Sorry for staff but please owner (owners) pay attention to customer service and don’t hire a professional chef, just cook authentic bring a different staff and you will kill it again in Philly.
Sorry but service and food sucks.
1. Server took 20 minutes to approach us a table of 6 people with only 3 more tables in the whole restaurant. Come on pay attention to customers.
2. Drinks almost half an hour. No alcohol
3. Food took 45 minutes to arrive
4. One visit from the servers and we ask for manager no where to be found.
5. Bill omg! They were asking loud if they were gonna add the tip and we told them that we don’t care we will tip them.
6. It’s not the servers fault about the experience. Manager / owner has to be on top of customer service.
We came at 5 something and we left till 9.
We love the restaurant is very cozy.
Sorry for a big review but we want you to stay in business the building has everything ok.

Can only speak for the nightlife as I didn’t come in to dine. The atmosphere was alright, with the DJ doing his best to keep the best lively. Time I went the music wasn’t that great and seemed like the upstairs had a better selection. Which brings me to ask what entirely is the difference between the two levels of the place? Is the upstairs only reserved for special events or can anyone go up? Just felt weird. It’s a Saturday night so it’s bound to be busy but when the waitress only checked up on us once while we were there… not the best and same thing with the hookah guys. Find it very weird to keep children around after 10 once the restaurant turns into a club atmosphere. It’s a cool spot for sure and will definitely come back to try their food but some things can be improved upon.

The restaurant section was cold and dim with no quality lights. We went for dinner close to 9pm. Had to use my light camera to see what I was served. The ambiente was cloudy because of the hookahs everywhere . I should have known better went to bathroom looked horrible and dirty 🤮 used toilet paper everywhere on the floor and it was only 9:00pm .Very cold because of the front door just wide open space. Quality of the food I’m in between we ordered shrimp mofongo. Very decent presentation. My partner said it was decent However when it got to my order it was a whole mess. Ordered churrasco with a side of Asparagus. What was brought out was a churrasco with two fried eggs some cheap salami cut into slices (😫) waitress explained that’s how it comes but when I asked her before ordering what was included with a churrasco she completely forgot to advise of all the extra condiments. I couldn’t deal with it and returned it. They brought back the churrasco cold 🙄. I literally ate half of it which was bland in taste. I ordered a simple Aeprol spritz. Which tasted like sprite and tonic water. How do you mess up that drink. 🫤 we didn’t bother going to the club section I had enough stress with the restaurant. Next time I won’t hesitate the extra 18 minute drive to Mama Juana’s . ✌🏻

The pictures below is one with light from camera shrimp mofongo and the dark one was with no camera light basically eating in the dark 😑
