Fat Salmon Sushi in Philadelphia is a delightful dining spot that offers a modern twist on traditional sushi rolls. The ambiance is chic with a lounge feel, perfect for a casual lunch or an elegant dinner. Guests rave about the sushi’s quality, presentation, and the creative variety, including vegetarian options. The service is friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience. While some find the prices a bit steep, the generous portions and the unique experience of sushi served on a decorative boat make it worthwhile. Overall, Fat Salmon Sushi is a great choice for sushi lovers looking for quality and a touch of innovation in their meal.

We went for an early dinner, and I was excited because this used to be one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the city. Since it was early we were one of three tables in the restaurant. The service was incredibly sub par, it took so long to just get refills on water and to have our food served. It looked like the priority for the staff was to get drinks served from the bar. The sushi was not at all as good as it used to be, I got the fat salmon, double down and shrimp tempura- all of which were highly recommended. None were great, expensive for what they were, and honestly I have had much better sushi at other less known restaurants.

I had a reservation with a friend for a weeknight at 7:00PM, and when we arrived, they told us that they were too packed and that we would have to sit at the bar. That was a little disappointing, the bar area does not have much area for the food so we felt crammed. The food itself was good, we had the vegetable gyozas, shrimp tempura roll, K.F.C and sweet meadow.

fat salmon was my first sushi experience ever almost a decade ago (when it was fairly new) and I came back yesterday and it was just as delicious as I remembered. I had the spicy scallop roll and the fat salmon signature roll. The pineapple cilantro sauce on top of that was incredible. Was the highlight of my meal. I also tried the sea breeze signature roll which was great.I recommend Fat Salmon for a cute intimate date spot or a catch up with a friend one on one. You must get a signature roll as I feel like that's some of the best items on their menu and what was most memorable from my first visit and this one. Shrimp shumai (steamed) is good but only have 4pcs compared to the 6pcs it came with when I first visited was disappointing. Outside of that it's great spot to go for sushi!Vegetarian options: I didn't have any vegetarian or vegan options however I was delighted to see how much they have available for people wanting those options

I was here tonight and the service here was horrible and it was a HUGE disappointment. We waited about 10 minutes until the server showed up to take our order when the restaurant wasn't even full or busy. Our water wasn’t refilled until it was completely empty and I had to ask server to refill my water. A sake flight we ordered was totally forgotten and I still had to pay for it. I asked for eel sauce but never received it. Like what kind of service is this? I worked in the fine dining restaurant and if this ever happens to our restaurant or to my guest, it would’ve be a HUGE problem and as a server to a server, I think she( Tory or chole or glory whatever her name is) definitely needs to be better trained. It’s not even worth of 1 star. I will never come back here.

Took forever for a pick up. About 35min wait not fair . Your host was lost was standing looking at receipts ( male host) . Like he didn't know what he was doing. I never have this problem when the girls are up front hosting... teach him better . Had to cancel my delivery ..... I had another delivery from another restaurant thanks for making their food cold as well .. please attend out house customers just the same as in store customers people came in after me and got their food before I got anything. .

Fat salmon has an ambient atmosphere with low levels of overall lighting to make way for a pleasant cool tone provided by the surrounding LED installations exuding a mixture of mostly blue and green tones. It was a great place to experience a menu that not only explored new flavors, but one that had an extensive vegetarian menu that tasted as great as their non vegetarian options. The crispy rice was pampered with a Korean fried chicken sauce and as a Korean myself I was quite surprised at how well it went with the crispy rice's texture. It made it a very nice appetizer to get my stomach ready for the rolls. The rolls were a mix of hit or miss, and some of the rolls should be met with the expectation of trying new combinations and flavors for the best experience. One of the really pleasant ones in my opinion was the Lady in Red roll which had a combo of ingredients that included cream cheese and pickled jalapeños topped off with red bell peppers, providing a flavor profile akin to a charcuterie board condensed into a roll. The seaweed salad proved to be a great palate cleanser and overall the food coupled with the great service from our waitress made my time at Fat Salmon quite satisfying!
