I had gone to Golden Fish Market for many years as a local of town. My last visit the fish & seafood were not very fresh. Moreover, the woman who helped me, (I had not been helped by before). While, I saw Fresh Tuna $15.00 a pound and asked this women about Sushi-grade Tuna, a half a pound. She asked about the price, it seemed she "made-it-up" and blurted out $30.00 a pound for a frozen block. I received a 1bl and stated I asked for a block, she said I told you it is a pound and would not take it back (it was in a plastic-frozen and sealed bag.. Moreover, the Frozen-Sushi Grade Tuna Block was tasteless. There is nothing at this kiosk for $30.00 a pound. Disappointing.
We purchased a dozen half shelled oysters which we waited 20 minutes for them to be shucked. Note that next to the oysters there were pre chucked oysters sitting outside its shell. After receiving our order, we noticed the taste was fishy, the oyster itself was detached from the shell, and warm. We believe that they were not fresh and high chances we get food poisoning. Never get your seafood here!

Love thier oysters and the timely manner the have them prepared.
When I walked in to Reading market, there were so many choices and I wasn’t sure what to get. I walked by this fresh seafood stand with these enormous prawns!! The worker agreed to cook the prawns for me and to steam clams I purchased as well. It was the best meal I have ever had! She use the right amount of butter and seasoning and she made these enormous prawns that looked like the size of lobster. Thank you so much, I enjoyed my trip to Philadelphia because of this seafood market:)
Took 30 minutes to clean 3 overpriced pompanos. Told it should only be 10 minutes when that should've been a 1 minute job. This place is a joke
Stopped by here on Sunday and picked up some flounder. The cashier's were most kind and the flounder, fresh and delicious! Not fishy at all. A big plus, they add ice to your paçkage to keep the fish cold.
Recently bought some scallops, mussels and salmon from here. When we got home and started prepping the ingredients, I noticed the scallops had a slightly off smell and the salmon did as well. Unfortunately they had gone bad and were inedible, so we threw them out, almost $50 worth of seafood. Incredibly disappointed given that I've ordered from Golden Fish Market several times from Mercato and the items we ordered always arrived fresh and well packaged.
Golden Fish has the perfect squid for calamari and their Haddock Loin is better than John Yi's
I bought a jumbo lump crab meat crab cake. There were specks of crab meat in it. There was nothing jumbo except for the amount of bread and filling.

Fresh fish and seafood always.
They were really helpful answering all of my questions, and the fish I bought (wild caught salmon and a crab cake) was very fresh
