Went there to get coffee and also try a new spot out, we got there around 1:30 and we didn’t know they closed at 1:00, (we went off of the time that was set on Google maps) we were about to walk to the door but the owner of the store came out and said they were closed but still kindly asked what we wanted to get and he offered us inside and let us order and gave us some knowledge about coffee because I’m used to going to Starbucks & Dunkin ? we got some pastries and he offered us a free blueberry tart since it was our first time coming in, They’re filled beignet is to die for. everything was so fresh 10/10

Love the exposed brick and large windows. Coffee is good and the almond croissants are da bomb!

New management has taken over, with some new additions. I believe it is priced relatively high, especially with most customers being high school kids. What sucks is they changed their time to 7:30am instead of 7am and there are school kids & teachers I've seen that go there everyday for caffeine & breakfast snacks, and with school requiring they be in by 7:50am that's not utilizing a busy rush to profit but dismissing the customers who have been there 2-3 years there's a slight change that's making a big difference. UPDATE: Same great service, times have varied but not bad.

Parking: There's about 10 spaces plus an open lot.

It’s great!*when it’s open. Been twice during hours in which Google maps and their own Instagram page (which does update hours) said they were open but indeed the lights were off and door was locked. Not sure what’s going on but it’s been pretty annoying to have to go somewhere else when I could just go there to begin with and not waste my time checking to see if guard house is open.

Real coffee, good food, and a unique atmosphere in Philadelphia's old arsenal at Guardhouse makes crossing Tacony Street worth the hassle.I recently met a friend for coffee at the newly opened Guardhouse. I wanted to meet for brunch expecting, as one does at a coffee shop or cafe, for them to have a very limited food offering. To my pleasant surprise and momentary regret, since the last time I visited, they greatly expanded their menu! I had eaten that morning, expecting I might grab a small pastry when I got there. Instead, I discover they have a breakfast menu, they have sandwiches, they have soups... they have everything an otherwise hungry patron could want! More than that, the Breakfast Taco was incredible!Next time, I'll be sure to arrive with an appetite.Another thing that excites me about this place is the aesthetic! Most often, when new businesses move into a community, it's out with the old and in with the new. Businesses will demolish old beautiful brick building just to throw up cheap ugly new buildings that last for a decade or two, clash with the community, and end up leaving neighbors with less notable architecture. Guardhouse, on the other hand, used the Arsenal's old guardhouse to their advantage, refreshing the outside and updating the inside! I cannot praise them enough for this bold move! And a few of their neat decorations inside work both visually and audibly as a wonderful conversation piece.I'm no coffee snob. I'll settle for burnt gas station coffee or the occasional DD coffee when it's available. But I can't enjoy lousy coffee. When a cafe serves mediocre coffee or worse, it makes me angry... well, maybe not angry; just disappointed. Ha.Guardhouse pours good coffee! As a man who 99% of the time drinks his coffee black, it's important to me that a place does not have to depend on syrups, powders or creamers to improve the taste of their coffee. Don't get me wrong; looking at Guardhouse's espresso menu definitely makes me want to try them all, as well as their other drinks, but a basic cup of black coffee is my go-to, and I'm glad Guardhouse makes it right.I'm a happy customer of Guardhouse, and though I don't get there as often as I'd like, their offering is enough to make me restructure my schedule to work them in.

This place is amazing. I've visited 2-3 times and have never been disappointed. It's clean, the coffee is great, and I love the atmosphere for hanging out and/or getting work done. Listen, it is worth the 20-25 minute trek on 95 to get here. That says it all ? Easily my favorite coffee shop in the area. Get the French toast.

Cool go-to spot for healthy sandwiches, coffee, tea, pastries. Actually just expanded their menu with a couple more filling meals. Love the avocado toast w mushrooms. Much more flavorful than most I’ve had. Always a spot to stop in when I can get to the area.

Kid-friendliness: Relaxing dine-in suitable for children

Parking: Not sure how many spaces are out front of the establishment but it’s suitable for a place of this size

Wow! What a pleasant little surprise. It seemed hard to find at first, but once you realize you can enter through the gates of the school it's just right there! Great hidden gem. The vibes are clean and beautiful. The food was so delicious. Everything from a tater tot to the chicken sandwich to the croque madam was amazing. Will definitely be coming back here!
