“Real quick, reading these recent reviews I'm seeing some things that should be addressed as a consumer. No one is watering your drinks down here. That is absolute nonsense. It's not a hookah bar. What they are experiencing is called ice. Mind you, I'm no physicist or anything fancy like that but ice is frozen. When you put liquids on ice that are not at that temperature, the ice will melt. So drink faster or do shots. Trust me, no one is putting enough thought in to putting water in your tequila. This will be a long review but I did need to throw a couple of things out there. As to pricing, when you go to Center City Philadelphia, expect the prices to be higher than a local watering hole in Ohio. Location, location, location. I am a bartender only 2 blocks down the street from here. Be glad they are this affordable. If you come to my bar you will not be able to get any shot at all for less than $12. Jameson at my bar will cost you at least $15. Would you like a mixer or chaser? That's $3 more. At Finn's you'll pay $9 tops. Not to mention you'll probably get double what I'm allowed to pour. My cheapest beer? $8.25. That's for Bud Light. Would you like a Stella? $9.35. At Finn's I can get one of those Surfside vodka tea things for around $7 I believe. Really want to save money? Get a city wide. Shot and a beer for around $6. Don't expect variety. Please remember I only work 2 blocks away. Now that's out of the way I'll get to my own review.
To be completely honest, I used to hate this place. I've worked pretty close to here for the last 4 years but until about 3 months ago I had only come in twice. Those 2 visits were less than stellar. Each time I went with what you would consider regulars and I would stand for literally over 10 minutes trying to be served. I'd be patient but eventually move spots, wave, call out, whatever I could do to get their attention. Sometimes that didn't even work. When they did greet me, they were short and snappy. The 2nd time I had to get someone else to order for me. The only thing that made me keep trying then was Chris. He was always apologetic and honest about the situation. I always make it a point now to say hey to him.
About 3 months ago I had a 20 minute wait for a Lyft home from work and I was cold. So I said screw it, I'll try Finn's again. I'm so glad I did. Right when I came in, I was greeted. The bar was packed but that didnt matter. There was no sarcasm or bullshit, just him doing his job and doing it well. A great bartender can read their clientele. Do you want to talk or not? Are you celebrating or are you upset? Local or tourist? Matt read me absolutely right. He actually guessed where I worked and what I did. He made sure I was taken care of and did exactly what I needed at that moment. He didn't know me, didn't know if I'd even tip him but you would never think he was even thinking about that. I had just finished a 15 hour shift at my own bar and even though they were close to closing you would think he had just gotten there by his attitude. It was refreshing.
So I decided to go back a couple of days later. He remembered my name, which is not at all common, but my drink as well. I had a great time again so I decided to keep coming back if Matt was working. Now, in this short amount of time, when I come in after a long day I actually feel welcome. Denver, the security guard, knows my name and asks how my day is every time. If I go to the bathroom, he watches my bag and drink when he doesn't have to. He pays more attention to my stuff than I do. He makes sure I get in and out of the bathroom safely. He goes out of his way to make sure everyone in the bar feels safe.
I now know 2 Jeremy's I think. Lol. It's nice to see a place that I thought didn't give a damn make such a turn around. Clearly they got rid of some of the people that weren't attentive. So if you had a bad e“

“Nice Irish pub in South Philly. Went with my GF. I had the House burger which was delicious with onion rings (pictured). My gf had the Shepard's pie and she devoured a good chunk of it before I could take a photo. We shared the Bacon Mac and cheese as an appetizer.“

“OUTSTANDING CULINARY BURGERS in a delightful Hometown pub setting. We were there on a Monday night with Chef Harry serving mouthwatering burger options, (minus the bun for our one gluten freer). Fran (Frances) was our classic Johnny on the spot bartender. Bathrooms were clean. For big groups, it’s a narrow building with no big tables downstairs but they have a big space with a billiard table upstairs & a server/runner - Jules. Loved the vibe.“

“We had our work holiday party with Paddy Whacks on South Street and couldn’t have been more pleased! The party options are a great deal with an open bar and appetizers. The set up process was seamless and the staff at Paddy Whacks was extremely helpful and kind. Would definitely recommend for any larger party!“

“We went for happy hour. It reminded me of the TV show Cheers 🍻 👏. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The server answered all questions about the menu and made a great suggestion to get the strawberry lemon drop. It was 🔥!!!
Kid-friendliness: I noticed children with their respective families and all was well.“

“In the last 6 months or so the food has gone down hill; the wraps fall apart, the burger is overdone and the fries are underdone and skimpy. The food used to be my favorite and I’d recommend it to locals and friends coming into town because we live just a few doors down. Bring back the yummy food cause this place is the best kind of neighborhood pub!“
