The hostess/greeter was not hospitable. I'm not sure what else might have been happening, but we did not feel welcomed. I had made a reservation for 6:00 PM and when we arrived at that time, we were told that our table would not be ready for 10, 15 maybe 20 minutes. We said we would sit at the bar. No smile or explanation why the reservation was not honored. We sat at the bar for about 10 minutes and asked our server, who was quite pleasant, if a table was ready. Again, the hostess said it would be 15 or 20 minutes. I had specifically booked at the restaurant at 6:00 PM so we could make a 7:30 PM performance at the Kimmel Center. Before we ordered, the server asked for a credit card swipe, an unusual request for a dinner reservation. The meal itself was good, but I couldn't help but notice the people sitting and standing waiting for tables. What are confirmed reservations for? The bill was presented on a tablet like screen, which the server held in her hand. I felt rushed in reviewing the bill also compelled to give one of the pre-calculated tips. This is not a well run restaurant. I also felt a level of stress with the restaurant workers. I attend the Kimmel and Academy frequently so I was very disappointed.
The atmosphere is great. Service excellent. The value is very good. I go there frequently following shows at the Academy and Milker theater irs convenient. However may I suggest a new updated menu.
The food was delicious and the staff was very sweet! You must try the Ceviche and get a spoon for that amazing sauce!
We enjoyed the bargain $25 prix fix menu a lot! The gumbo was amazing as was the tuna poke for our appetizers. The salad with salmon was excellent! We also shared a plate of six Long Island oysters which we superbly clean & tasty. Best of all was the quiet. We so enjoyed being able to have conversation and not feel rushed to leave. Our two hour lunch was GREATLY APPRECIATED. All staff was attentive. We will return.
Amazing food and the service was spectacular! I would definitely return. I also had a Mojito Mocktail and it tasted just like the real drink!
Our party of 5 had an amazing meal and quality cocktails. From the fried chicken to the tuna poke, Iberico ribs and crab dip, lettuce wraps and crab bread- everything was amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned- Loch Bar has become one of our favorite restaurants. Convenient parking is an added bonus.
We had a wide variety of of menu options, all of which were delicious. I highly recommend the Crab Soup, the bowl was a huge portion for my wife and I. Apps we had the rolls which were the best rolls ever, the calamari / shrimp, and the shrimp cocktail. For dinner, I had the Sea Bass, Wife had the Lobster Roll, and friend had the Salmon and the Caesar Salad. For dessert we had the Berry Cheesecake. Had a few cocktails, all very good as well. Will definitely go back!
The receptionist was actually very rude to my guest and I. Prior to arriving I tried calling to let them know I was running late but would be there before the grace period. Unfortunately when I arrived the valet parking was ending. I walked into the restaurant greeted the receptionist and she was very rude about the circumstances of us being late. Her attitude was very arrogant and nonchalant. She said “we gave your table away” with a very rude demeanor. This type of person should not be greeting guest who come into an upscale restaurant. I then looked on OpenTable for another reservation and there was one table left. We enjoyed our time though, we were not accommodated or respected.
Decided to head into the city's center to chat and chew with two old friends. One suggested the Loch Bar. She said, prior to the Philly location opening she would take an hour and a half drive to the one in Maryland. I was definitely excited to try it out.
The Loch Bar is on S. Broad St. directly across from the Kimmel Center. Prime location with valet parking. The exterior dining area is nicely arranged and the interior space is opulent and what I was expecting. I was greeted by a very nice gentleman who held the door as I entered. Very classy.
Our reservation was for 6pm. The hostess promptly sat us in what appeared to me to be a makeshift dining space. Dave was our server and he greeted us on the spot. He was very personable and welcoming. We ordered water and cocktails. My friend who suggested the restaurant said, he has been her waiter every time she's dined there. So far, everything is going well.
Theeennnn... Dave forgot our waters. We asked again when he came back to take the appetizer order, and had to ask 1 more time. Okay, not a big deal.
My friend says, they usually have live music on Friday. Lol I said, where do they set up? Yup! You guessed it lol. In the section where we were seated with the makeshift set-up. In the middle... (no exaggeration, fork with calimari on the end in air headed toward mouth) ...of us njoying appetizers... The manager comes over, apologizes for the interruption and said they were going to upgrade us to booth because the band would be setting up in that area. He did advise he was comping the appetizers and cocktails we had to that point which was a wonderful gesture. So fork goes back on the plate, we relocate to a booth, the staff bring over our dishes. Next question, where's Dave?
The food was good not great, Possibly the disturbance and lack of attentive service from our server curbed my taste a few degrees. We started with Calimari and Rock Shrimp, Artichoke and Crab Dip, and Roasted Oysters. For dinner, two ladies had the Seafood Bake and I had the Miso Roasted Chilean Seabass and a side house salad w/vinaigrette.
The band had played a few songs while we were dining and the tempo was slow. Relaxing to the point of putting you to sleep.
While I feel this was an exception to the business as usual (BAU) routine for this establishment and location due to the stellar personal reviews I received, my experience was lukewarm. While I may return, I won't rush to make it back to the Loch Bar Philly.

Food was awesome! All the meat options were perfectly cooked. The problem with steak in wraps is it isn’t cooked well so the whole strip comes out in one bite. Here it wasn’t that way. Steak was perfect. Duck was the best I’ve had. Crab dip was great. The only complaint was the blondie brownie was dry. But we added the cream from a coffee order and it was good then. We will be back

I selected this restaurant (Philadelphia) to celebrate my birthday on Wednesday (traveled from NJ). When we arrived our table wasn’t ready so we waited to be seated. There appeared to be a disagreement at the bar while we were waiting. After about 10 minutes a party of three walked in and they were immediately seated. The girl at the front desk noticed the look on my face and advised that we would be seated next. When we arrived at our table we noticed the party of three seated one table from ours (same seating arrangement). Next, someone came over to the table to pour our water. He handed us two straws in his hand that he pulled from his apron that were not covered. I asked if he could please give us straws in a napkin. He then took the poured water from the table to the back (not sure why) but when he came back I noticed the water had been replaced because ice was in the glass (even though I asked for no ice) so I decided not to drink the water. The waiter came over to take our order and was MIA for a while. After 20 minutes of waiting for my beverage my husband asked what happened to our waiter. We were advised by the another waiter that he was in the bathroom (TMI). The manager came over to the table and we explained our displeasure from the time we walked in the door and his response was he had been advised multiple times by others that evening regarding how the young lady at the front desk was handling seating. I told him about the incident with the straws and he put his hand on head in disbelief. His response was “we are trying to get it together if you can just give us a chance.” He never apologized but felt that we should be empathetic with the horrible service. I was so frustrated that I didn’t get a chance to really enjoy my food. The night ended with a free slice of cake. I have to really think about visiting this establishment again.
