I contemplated if I should leave a review because I fear even with explaining how completely out of line the staff was, they will not care to make the changes to their customer service and professionalism. I’ve been wanting to try Ma Lassie’s for years and finally had the chance to stop by the eatery today. Upon arrival, I asked my brother to grab us a table so that I had somewhere to eat after waiting in the line. When he went over to the tables they were dirty, he goes to ask someone behind the counter if they can clean it and the man responds “I don’t work here”. Eventually we find someone able to assist us and we thank him for doing such a thorough job. I waited patiently for about 30 minutes in the line. My brother and sister waited by the table as I was in line and let a random couple sit with them as seating was limited. The girl’s boyfriend gets up from the table and the guy from behind the counter takes his seat. The girl politely lets him know that her boyfriend is sitting there and he responds “I know the owner personally I will get up when he gets back”… I finally get my food and go to sit down, and as I’m wrapping up eating, I look for a trash can and can’t find one in the seating area. My sister gets up to grab sugar for a coffee she was drinking, but was coming back to the table. One of the workers with drawn on eyebrows and spotty makeup starts yelling telling us to get our friend and that it’s not cool that she left her trash there, she is completely unaware (because she didn’t even care to ask) that my sister was coming back for the drink. I left a syrup packet and hot sauce packet on the table because I looked around and asked where a trash can was and didn’t see one. If you’ve eaten at a Reading Terminal restaurant that has private seating areas, then you know that most of them typically will grab the trash for you when you’re done which is what I assumed when I didn’t see a trash can in a conspicuous place. The lady was so focused on trying to “check us” for the sake of her pride that she didn’t even care to know what happened or why it happened and due to this willful ignorance I will never return to this establishment again. I’ll tolerate a bad attitude for great food, but a bad attitude, ignorance, and subpar food? Absolutely not.

Food not even worth the hype !! Stood in line for 2 hours then I ordered shrimp and it’s made to order and that took another 30 minutes to the point where I think she forgot about me. Spent $50+ on 2 shrimp plates and the food was very normal and regular and my shrimp was salty as hell . Super disappointed

A tik tok review brought me here. Unfortunately the food was not worth the long wait in line. I ordered whiting fish, Mac n cheese, candied yams, collard greens and cornbread. The yams and the cornbread were good. The fish was ok. I was very disappointed in the Mac n cheese. It lacked seasoning and it needed more cheese. I can't rate the greens because I never received them. The food looked better than it tasted. I feel robbed.
First time visiting Reading Terminal and tried this place because of the long line up. Pros: huge portion and good price. Cons: taste is so so. The chicken would benefit from longer marination. Not as tasty as I expected.

I ordered fried chicken wings with collard greens and macaroni & cheese. I thought all of it was phenomenal. I’m from the Deep South so I feel like I am a soul food connoisseur lol.

I love Ma Lessies It's my go to for Soul Food if My family not cooking it ourselves. Personally u cant go wrong with anything. But My go to is the Turkey Wings w/ Gravy cabbage, and Yams and they always good. Everytime single time.
