Always a great experience. Now in 2 locations (one in Reading Terminal and the other in the Fashion Distict Food Court - the old Gallery Food Court off of Market and 11th Streets).
Perry (the owner I met) has created a great place for food and friendliness. His team is always great and the food is outstanding.
If you get down to Center City or Olde City Philadelphia, get to Ma Lessie's and have the best friend and baked chicken I have ever eaten.
My stomach has happened naturally from chicken (lol) and even though I am working at shrinking it, I will always let my cheat food be Ma Lessie's Chicken and Waffles.

I would’ve given a Higher rating , if the attitudes of the workers were better. Not a welcoming business in the least bit. Although the fried fish was decent, I would not return based on the unpleasant environment. Lady taking orders just stared at you without a welcoming presence, and guy getting orders ready had a terrible demeanor as well. Not another dime will be spent here on the next visit. Definitely disappointed with service. Tread lightly when approaching. You can come with a smile and still be greeted with poor communication. Boo!

Worth the wait! If the line is long, stand strong. This chicken is perfect. Hot, juicy, seasoned, and the skin has a crunch that transports you to your grandmas house for Sunday dinner.
The sides are good too, but you haven’t had the best chicken (in Reading Terminal and maybe the world) if you haven’t tried Ma Lessie’s Chicken.
No trip to center city is complete without stopping here.

Location Fashion District—I’m very disappointed because my food wasn’t that good. I ordered a fried pork chop platter which comes with 2 turkey chops and 1 side. The turkey chops was ok, very small in size it was more like 1 turkey chop cut in half and the mac and cheese had no flavor. Then I ordered 2 chicken wings at $4 a piece and the wings wasn’t seasoned good enough it was missing something. I feel like the Chinese store chicken wings is better and you can get 4 wings for like $7. But anyway very disappointed.

greens food but macaroni wasn’t good. ribs burnt cornbread 3 out of 5. i didn’t finish my plate. but people say the chicken good tho guess i should of ordered that instead of the ribs

Here's my recent experience:
I ordered 2 fried catfish platters 1 with potato salad and strings beans 1 with sweet potatoes and string beans 1 sweet tea 1 corn muffin
I waited over 30 minutes in line, spent $51.00, and ended up having to throw the the meals away and do something else for dinner.
The Food: The fish was not catfish, and it was fried rock-hard and incredibly salty. The sweet potatoes were dark brown, undercooked and hard. The string beans were soggy.
The Drink: The sweet tea was unsweetened and filled with old, decaying fruit that looked completely unsafe to drink.
The Service: They completely forgot the potato salad on the platter.
