Mawn is great. No it's not 'cheap', but they don't claim to be, and the food is fantastic. It is reasonably priced among other fine dining options in the city. I scramble for a reservation almost every month.
The service here is generally very good, though we did end up having to wait in the doorway for 20 minutes in this tight area behind a curtain even though we got to our reservation on time. Where we struggled - and where the “3” rating comes from was how expensive the food was and how hard it was to get a reservation relative to how good it actually was.
