Honestly, I just came to try and see what the hype was all about. To put it plainly this place is above average at best. Honestly, I'd just go to Terakawa over this place, It just ain't it.Shio Ramen:The good -1. Noodles for me were well above average.2. The egg was solid too.The Bad -1. The broth was about average.2. The meat was below average in flavor.

I'll be sad to see this place go, it's been a staple for me since I moved to Philly in 2017...I was hungry around 1am and it was one of a few places open lol. The ramen always slaps and I've cultivated some great friendships over hot, steaming bowls of broth and noodles. This is also the place that introduced me to Taiwan Mazesoba (brothless ramen, affectionately known as Maz here lol). Everyone that works here is a vibe, I truly love it here

noodles are excellent... the broth is not as amazing in comparison but I'm more of a tonkuto fan which they did not have on menu.proper well prepared ajitama/eggs and ingredients overall.paper menu is unclear, look at the board. The shoyu had a bit too much fish sauce.Shio broth was excellent and better rounded.

So good but you guys should definitely stay in Philly ! You are unique to the community and Japan is a tough market, but best of luck anyway !

I had high expectations for a $17 bowl of ramen (plus $2 to add an egg), so I guess Neighborhood Ramen was just kinda meh. I got the Shio ramen and felt like it lacked umami. It honestly tasted like deli chicken soup, which is fine, but def on the blander side and not worth $17 in my opinion. My fav part of the meal tho was the soy marinated egg which was actually worth the upcharge! Also the noodles were chewy and soaked up the broth nicely.I tried my boyfriend’s shoyu ramen which was def better than mine, but again, it just kinda felt “one note.” I would probably skip out on this spot tbh!!

I typically read 1 star reviews before I visit a new-to-me establishment. Not to form an opinion, more to get an eye for what others see. I can say with no reservations the people who gave this restaurant 1 star reviews are wrong.Everything is explained as you order and take your seat. The wait list process is straightforward and easy to follow. The employees are very attentive and are friendly with everyone. Now to the food... it was hot, flavorful, served properly timed, and there was enough to eat you are very pleased.I visited my daughter and her husband, and she has been wanting to get me there before the owners leave the area. I'm very happy to say we made it and are very happy to experience this.

This ramen was delicious first time I’ve been and easily my favorite in Philly. I got the Shoyu ramen had to add an ajitama (soft boiled egg) it was salty heaven. It was a solid bowl of ramen will definitely be back. Was recently in Japan and had plenty of ramen this bowl gave me a flashback it was pleasant. I took a ramen tour in Shinjuku and the tour guide suggested Neighborhood ramen right in my city. Worth every penny spent!

I went for lunch here and it is extremely cramped, very small hole in the wall sort of place. Also, they took my full cup of iced tea from my table while I was in the restroom. I had to ask for a new cup of tea, I clearly had not finished it.

The ramen was really disappointing, was really surprised by how there was no natural flavor from the broth. Tasted mainly oil and soy sauce, which I can make at home. I was really surprised by the lack of quality because this place has been hyped up so much. For the price of $17/bowl + $2/egg, (egg is not included in the ramen bowl base and no table service - you go up to order with a cashier and they later drop off your bowl. You get up to grab your own water & utensils) which is on par with New York prices, I expected at least okay quality. Maybe this place is going for something experimental and if you want experimental noodle soup, go for it. If you want ramen, I recommend places like Hiro or Terakawa instead for a classic, no-frills, delicious bowl of Japanese ramen.

I’ve always been a big fan of neighborhood ramen. Always good food and friendly service. I appreciate them changing their menu seasonally but I got to admit this newly updated menu was alright. They used to have amazing gyoza and gyokai shoyu that are now off the menu and I hope they bring it back soon. Thank you!

Great creamy broth, the egg was done right and flavorful. I had extra spice added and wasn't disappointed. My only lack of 5 stars was I paid for extra pork and feel there wasn't enough. Pork was thin and less than what was expected. Still worth going back.

Really really good! If you like Ramen, you gotta stop by. The broth is amazing. The noodles are perfectly tender. 5/5

Awesome service/staff, very chill atmosphere, and the food and drinks are divine!! Best pork & broth I've had in a long time on the tonkatsu (with the egg of course ?), get the half & half with the hibiscus tea, too. Lovely all around. ?
