Paganos Steaks & Hoagies

This was a neighborhood staples when I was growing up. So much so that it would be my last stop before leaving Philly when I came home for a visit. The food is still good, but the family-feel of the place is not the same. It seems they are trying different combination of staff, but the group there on my most recent "felt right." They seem to be a part of the fabric of the community.

The prices have been raised and are exorbitant. I know I can find a steak or hoagie just as good in Philly for several dollars less. I was disappointed to see one of the cooks rubbing his hair and his beard as I entered the store and was going to handle food before washing his hands until I said something to another staff member. She received my critique gracefully and handled the situation discreetly.

This place has served generations in my family. The food in our last two orders were insanely disappointing. The meat was dry and flavoreless. We agreed the extra cheese, Either they are using a really cheap cheese or they didn't put any on the sandwiches. We've ordered countless steaks over the years. This is where we took our out of if town guests to get a Philly cheesestake. Never again. This order was the end of an era for us. Save your money, go somewhere else.

All I can say is never again. I ordered cheesesteak extra cheese mayo on the roll etc . got home I had no cheese no mayo and to top it off I had a roll full of steak ums nothing near what I ordered never again.

i never leave reviews but it’s currently 4:37am and my whole house is awake from stomach issues. after a short conversation, we concluded it was the hoagies we bought from this place. this place was recommended to me and i thought this would be a better experience. i’m really surprised (and concerned) the hoagie is affecting me when i only had about four bites of mine because it was soaking wet (this was common with all five hoagies). no one in my house finished or enjoyed their food, yet we are all up suffering. thank you!

I used to love Pagano's, it was a special treat for me and my family every now and then. But we recently went there and I guess it's under new management. The cashier was way too pushy and talkative and was trying to get me to tip her and book a vacation with her! But more importantly, the chicken cheesesteak was extremely salty. It tasted like they put extra salt in when cooking it, then added salt afterwards. I don't know that we'll be back. Not the same Pagano's that we knew and loved.
