You will thank yourself after enjoying the best hot chocolate in the world!
Expensive folks, the hamburgers they served at thr bar next door they would not serve us. Portions are ok. You pay for seconds on bread and butter 8 bucks kids! If the view isnt what you came for, save your money and go to Hilo to Hawaiian style and get your moneys worth.

Coffee Shop No. 459

I wasn’t planning any coffee shop stops on this visit to Philadelphia, but my oldest son said he wanted some hot chocolate. We happened to be across the street from Rim Cafe so we walked over. I am so thankful we did.
We opened the door and were welcomed by a very friendly older gentleman and Italian music. He was truly a delightful person and seemed so interesting. I wish there weren’t so many customers behind me because I had so many questions. Rim Cafe is perfectly eccentric, interesting and quirky. I absolutely fell in love with the cafe. Many pictures were hung on the walls and memorabilia throughout the cafe; so much to look at and appreciate.
I went to the counter to order a cortado; it wasn’t on the menu. I asked the barista about it. He said he could make it but I would probably enjoy the Cubano Cappuccino more. I’ve learned that whenever a barista suggests an espresso drink you should listen. The drink was fabulous. Condense milk makes most things taste better.
My son ordered the Volcano Hot Chocolate and loved it. You can tell by the pictures because he was trying to get every last drop out of the glass. Watching the gentleman sing along with the Italian music while making the hot chocolate and the smile he gave when he handed us the hot chocolate was priceless. You could tell he enjoys his profession.
The bonus to the experience was the 20% off for veterans! I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and my Cubano Cappuccino at Rim Cafe.
Enjoying life one cortado/cubano cappuccino at a time!

Try the Americano black, the coffee is home roasted, not acidic like most small batch roasts and has chocolate notes. Look past the eccentricity, not a tourist spot, a mom and pop shop in a tourist destination.

The hot chocolate was outstanding, but the overall experience was disappointing. As others have mentioned, the atmosphere lacked authenticity, resembling a staged spectacle rather than a warm and inviting space. Moreover, the interactions with the staff were uncomfortable and tinged with a lack of professionalism, leaving a lasting negative impression.

So, I came all the way from the other side of the city to check this place out after seeing it on Tik Tok. Was it worth it to me? Not really. Mind you this is my first time here, I come in and ask the owner if I can get a table, Im a first time patron. He replies "ok, calm down relax. Just order and you get a seat" l found that odd considering I WAS calm, I simply asked if I can get a table for two or do I just find a seat anywhere. Felt micro aggressive considering my voice wasn't raised, I wasn't rude, and I was in fact calm. Immediately I wanted to leave but decided to stay considering Id came from NE Philly and was waiting on a friend to arrive. The waitress was pretty polite and nice when it came time to order. I got a Reeses Pieces cannoli and a hazelnut nutella hot cocoa. Sigh, it tasted nothing like hazelnut or nutella. It just tasted like melted chocolate was poured on top. The cocoa itself just tastes like a warm melted chocolate bar. If that's your thing you'll love it, for me, it was overrated. Not a place Id come back to again. $29 for a cocoa and cannoli. Don’t believe the hype.

This place really puts the BOMB in bomb hot chocolate. Fresh chocolate and fantastic coffee with a vibrant and chique atmosphere. You just can't go wrong coming here for a good drink and hang out for a bit.
