My wife and I visited Sakana Omakase, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. Every course was exceptionally fresh, beautifully presented, and packed with unique flavors you don’t find at most sushi restaurants.
The chefs clearly take great pride in their craft, and each piece felt thoughtfully prepared and expertly executed. The progression of the omakase kept us excited for what was coming next, with several creative selections that really stood out.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere was intimate and welcoming, making it a perfect date night spot. If you’re looking for a memorable omakase experience with incredibly fresh fish and a unique menu, Sakana is absolutely worth the visit. We can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely incredible. The intimate environment makes for a truly special omakase experience. You’ll sit at the counter while two sushi chef’s prepare each course. The servers are wonderful. They are also able to accommodate gluten free which is a huge bonus!

Sakana was my first omakase experience and I think it'll be hard to beat! I treated my husband for his birthday; he loves all seafood, and while I enjoy sushi I am much pickier. I ate every single bite of food they served to us and everything was absolutely delicious. The chefs and servers were very attentive and helpful, making sure that we understood how to eat and enjoy each course. They also handled an allergy of mine seriously, but in a way where I never felt like I was missing out on everything. This was very much a special occasion meal for us but I hope to return someday!

The omakase here stands out for the freshness and quality of the fish, which felt noticeably better than many other sushi spots I’ve visited in the Philadelphia area. The progression of the meal also felt thoughtfully designed—the sushi was well balanced with a few creative courses, such as a uni-based appetizer and a warm dish, which added variety beyond the typical sequence of nigiri and made the experience feel more dynamic. Reducing the number of handheld sushi pieces and adding another small appetizer or seasonal dish would make the menu flow even better. Compared with other places like Kissho House and Ogawa, the quality of the seafood here is definitely competitive, though the chefs are a bit more reserved in conversation. Overall, this is a high-quality and enjoyable omakase experience that I would gladly return to.

My girlfriend and I have been to Sakana 3 times now for special occasions, and we consistently get blown away by how delicious the multiple course menu is. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly, with great service and accommodations for dietary restrictions (just let them know ahead of time when asked while making your reservation). It is BYOB, so we usually bring a bottle of white wine with us to pair with the sushi. They source their high quality fish with great care, and it shows with both the taste and presentation. Would recommend this to anyone in the Philly area if you’re looking for a great omakase experience.

Very nice Omakase offering. The chef was nice, and very skillful execution. I am surprised that they were not awarded a Michelin star, for which they well deserve.

Wonderful experience. The double toro was my favorite. The monkfish liver was excellent as well. The oyster uni shot was a unique surprise to start of the meal. Highly recommend.
