All I did was pass through the front foyer to reach the stairs and I was told to wait back in the line outside. I was already inside and didn't get to have my coat outside during winter. Not sure why this a protocol, but it's not a very smart one and it needs to be revised.

DRINKS?????? FABULOUS. Had the best bartender EVERRRR and cheaper than anywhere I else that night. And STRONG. Service was also fabulous. Atmosphere???? AMAZING DJ set— Vogue by Madonna into the Guess remix??????? Genius. Crowd was great, friendly folks dancing and sharing the fun. So much more comfortable than any other bar that I went to—though I was randomly kissed in the top of my head by an older guy? LMAO. That was the only odd thing but whatever. Shout out to the folks my friends danced with—yall matched our vibes immediately.

A truly one of a kind experience. The atmosphere on the 2nd floor was incredibly energetic when I was there, the 1st floor is somber in the best way possible, and the basement is incredibly romantic. If you have plans for a date, gay or straight, you can't go wrong with Tavern!

Parking: Street parking near here becomes free after 10PM, which is around when they stop serving food

Wheelchair accessibility: Not recommended if youre in a wheelchair as the street it's on is about to become a brick road (as of November 2024)

The waiter downstairs was quite rude when warning us about the area designated for orders. The singing part was disruptive; it sounded more like shouting than actual singing, making for an uncomfortable atmosphere. This place has beautiful potential, and with better management, it could really shine.

Great bar as long as you don’t come on Monday or Wednesday because that piano player those days is awful. Every other day is wonderful. Thursday is the best piano player and best bartender. We’ve been coming here for 10 years now.

Love this place for live music on Tuesdays - the singer/piano player is fantastic

My friend and I were declined water from the bar. They were very rude and aggressive!

Writing this review while everyone is bored on the dance floor. Such trash DJ-ing. If you want to listen to butchered songs or songs no one knows, this would be the place for you. Drinks are well priced, but every time I come here, the music/DJ is absolutely trash. All my friends would rather listen to an auto-play Spotify list at home, than go here for dancing.

Every city needs a gay piano bar. Philly has Tavern and I love it. The service isn’t always great but it’s always a lovely time.

Honestly the vibe wasn’t even all that bad . What disturbed me the most was how the bartender by the name of Chuck continued to serve all white customer around me as I waited patiently for him to acknowledge me . It seemed race related but anyways .
Thank God for Tommy! The bartender that was very impartial and did his job well. If it wasn’t for him I probably would’ve have left .

We liked the atmosphere and piano on the ground floor even though the layout is a bit cramped. Very hard to get a drink. The bartender was friendly enough, but they definitely needed more than one bartender on the 4th of July.
