I had such a good experience. The first time I went to the Townsend I was nervous that this second experience wouldn't be as good. I was 100% proven wrong. It was phenomenal. The cooks, the bartender, the wait staff. Everybody did a great job. Thank you

I have been to alot of fine dinning restaurants but this one definitely makes a 5 star restaurant taste like trash in comparison. They're giving you your money's worth and more.

Was fine, cool atmosphere, clearly used to be a house and they make it look inviting. Low light switch candles, and a excellent liquor selection. Hous enase cocktail list was lacking considering I saw aheat seemed to be a dozen bottle of house made tonics. Also I would say the cocktail I did get (espresso martini) was very small. Perhaps it was a childs size? Not sure. I Would go back. Staff wasn't pretentious which is the thing that could easily happen in a place like this.

Went in to Townsend for happy hour with some friends and had a wonderful experience. They have a great happy hour including drinks and a tasting menu that is a great deal. The menu is creative and the atmosphere is cozy. The staff were so kind and friendly. I can’t wait to return and try more menu items

We had a wonderful early evening at Townsend EXP, celebrating a birthday. It truly felt like having a personal chef preparing our meal just for us. Each dish was made with such care, not only looking beautiful but tasting amazing too. To top it off, the chef surprised us with some complimentary dishes, which was such a thoughtful touch. Everything we ordered was fantastic, and the service was both attentive and unintrusive. We highly recommend it and will definitely be returning!

Came for drinks. Eveything is
was great till the tab arrive. Watch out for the extra fee all Townsend places now seem to do. Credit card usage fees? Beverage tax? These are fake lines to add onto to stated drink cost in menu. Won’t be going back cause of the cheap scam.

After much anticipation and excitement the actuality didn't deliver. The waiter got our initial order wrong, the meal came out late and luke warm. Celery root was cold, the salmon was undercooked, the coconut custard was not set and runny. The soup and tuna crudo were good but everything after was not. The whole experience was ok at best.

I reserved this place as a special treat for us on Valentine’s Day. We took Uber but got stuck into the post Philly parade traffic so called the place to tell them that we will be 10 min late. They said ok because we would be within their 15 min wait policy. We arrive there and we get seated at the bar. Waited for 20 min and then decided to speak with someone. The hostess in a sneaky way answered me while we appreciate you called to be late but since you were late, we appreciate that you wait more until we find you a place. So I go back and nothing happens. Meanwhile 3 couples showed up and were escorted to seats in the main dining room. So 50 minutes later my husband inquires, the hostess started to apologize that they messed up. And offered us a spot in the least convenient and most cold spot. At that point, no matter what is offered and how good the food was, our mood was ruined. Our time spent there was terrible and we won’t be back to this place.

We were pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Townsend and find a table with our son who was in Philly on business. The ambiance drew us in and the menu looked enticing. Everything we ordered was perfectly prepared from the first course to the dessert. The halibut was delicate with a crisp skin and sauce that melted in your mouth. The portions were perfect, just enough to savor all the flavors and left room for our next course. We will definitely return.

I had such high hopes for the tasting menu here that were ultimately not met. The price for the tasting menu itself is not prohibitive and the drinks are also not so horribly priced. However, when you do the tasting menu it is likely you will leave hungry after spending a good amount of money.

The bread comes first and it was fine bread. Hamachi crudo next was okay, the flavoring not terribly inventive and the portion really left a lot to be desired. This latter aspect is true for every aspect of the tasting-the portions are quite small in a way that seems unwarranted. The scallops were my favorite part with a very nice cream sauce. The tortellini dish was three very small pieces and honestly not enough to even form an opinion about. The main course-the duck-was no showstopper. Finally, the chocolate soufflé was super underwhelming with the warm sauce added on top.

The service was super attentive. Drink menu had tons of appealing options. However, overall it was a bit of a weaker tasting menu and wouldn't necessarily need to come back to try any of their a-la-carte options.

Tasting menu was an exceptional experience. Impressive presentation with appropriately modest portions so that we were not too full for the dessert experience. I bake, and I was impressed! Flavors and textures well-balanced, not overdone, and not one dish fell flat. Looking forward to a return visit.
